If you are wheelchair bound by chance, the owners told me it is wheelchair accessible! I'm sure they wouldn't mind digging you a few buckets, but I could bring someone along to assist you! Happy Hunting!
@Tina-mt9cl Жыл бұрын
Still worth the trip in a wheelchair if you can team up with one or two more able bodied rockhounds to go hunting with. Easy access, not down a long trail. Not to mention while you are there you can visit the nearby Gem and Mineral Museum in Franklin, NC. Get in contact with some locals that share the same passion in your area if you aren't too far away and you will surely find an easygoing crew to team up with for a final expedition or two :)

@robertbanks5762 Жыл бұрын
When you shake down the stones and wash them, the gems go to the bottom. Yes a piece of furniture foam cut to fit your screen and flip it over on the foam. Gems will be on top.

Had no idea that you're in SC like me. New to the channel. Thought you were from Arkansas for some reason. Just got back from Franklin, NC. Have you checked out the Rose Creek Mine up there? You can dig your own native or get salted buckets. Can't wait to go back and check out some of the other mines. I just found out there's a mine in Antreville, SC. Diamond Hill mine. Might check that out sometime.

My family ran the Jacob's Ruby Mine from around 1995 to 2001. (Right next to Shuler, Holbrook and Gibson, the 3 original mines.) Most of the unsalted mines are gone. Glad there's a little left. The heyday was probably 1950's to 1990's although lots of salted mines the last few decades in that time range.

Franklin North Carolina is also home to the annual gem and lapidary wholesale show which is not as big as the show in Tucson but it’s the next biggest after Tucson and if you can’t go to Tucson but you can go to Franklin North Carolina. It’s worth your while. Franklin, North Carolina is also home to the worlds largest sapphire in the museum section of the local gem shop.

I love your videos, and 1 a week excites me. Are any of the sapphires "facet grade"? Great that the mine is not salted. I just watched a meMiner video, and his dog Shelby, also is a rockhound. I was thinking that he and Matrix, would become good friends, because they both love rockhounding.
