The very first time, and first fish I ever caught was a Conger, out from Ilfracombe, the Skipper called it before we saw it, the line was going around in circles, he said typical Conger behavior. He then called me a soft *&^% because I was struggling to haul it in, when I got the blighter to the surface it'd wrapped itself around everyones line and I was hauling up about 20lb of dead weight, he had to cut all the lines and and set all the gear again from scratch, the cheeky beggar left me 'till last as if it was my fault. Must be 45 years ago, great times.

I have never ever gotten as many fish on one trip, when using a rod. I got 35 Lythe. But they were tiny. Like seriously tiny. They did not weigh much more than my 28gr lure. I have never seen them that small. Still, it sure was fun. And It good to see there is much small fish. It means it is a healthy population.

Andy Howell on the Anglo dawn. We’re in Falmouth for two days and hopefully going to do some coastal foraging the day before. I keep mentioning to my partner that hopefully we might bump into you 1 day when we’re in Cornwall as it’s our favourite part of the country. Whenever we visit Cornwall we without fail book a fishing trip normally out of Newquay but this time we changed it from wreck/ reef fishing to shark fishing instead. 🦈 🎣

4 hours wreck and reef fishing seems to go too fast so we’ve gone all out on this shark trip and over doubling the length of time out at sea. Fingers crossed it pays off.
