I been growing DWC for over 25 years. Its not for beginners at all but once your dialed in its off to the races with explosive growth and harvest in minimal time.

Great video. How often do you have to change the water
@DeBaccoUniversity3 жыл бұрын
This can depend on size of plants and containers, but once a week to once every two weeks is a good starting point for water exchanges which may not be a full 100% turn over, especially when plants are smaller.

Don't buy the hydro bucket pictured at 1:29 with the fertilizer kit. Company called baruk or something like that. You will never see it. Scam. Love the informational videos, Prof DeBacco!

Professor, What are the yields in comparison to soil? Is there a significant difference between the two? I appreciate your willingness to share and help the community, your hard work and input goes a long way. Many thanks !
@tombryant45183 жыл бұрын
It’s usually much higher yields and faster growth than soil. RDWC is even better than DWC, and easier to maintain and monitor with everything connected together with a central reservoir.

Tom Bryant my Mans 🙏🏼✌🏼 👊🏼 To me it also seems as if it would much easier than watering manually or even in an automatic timing set up. It seems much easier to control. Can one also assume that the PH &-PPM (considering diff stages of growth, harvest etc) levels required are the same to soil or do these change as well ? Thanks Growmie ✌🏼💛😎
@DeBaccoUniversity3 жыл бұрын
In short hydroponics can produce better yields, but greater returns comes with higher risk as there is minimal buffering with a hydro system so a grow can more quickly than soil loose their entire crop.
@tombryant45183 жыл бұрын
@@muthrfuqrjonz3530 It only SEEMS easier. It’s much more involved than a soil garden, and it can go sideways in a hurry. The air you pump into the reservoir creates carbonic acid which will change your pH. The air can also warm up the water if it’s getting taken from a warm room, or the pump is hot.
@tombryant45183 жыл бұрын
@@muthrfuqrjonz3530 pH requirements are different than those of soil, and it’s constantly changing along the the EC (ppm) as the plants uptake the nutrients and weaken the nutrient solution. Soil pH is higher (in the 6.5-7.5 area) DWC/RDWC is lower (in the 5.5-6.5 area) If you maintain a higher relative humidity, the plants won’t drink as much, if it’s dry, they’ll uptake more. If you have weak lights, they won’t drink as much. If you have powerful lights, they’ll drink lots. Toss CO2 in there, and it’s crazy. You can play with all the variables in hydro and get very quick results, so it’s comparable to being the F1 of growing with so much to look after and watch out for. As the roots grow, you need to watch that they don’t plug off any air stones, or feed/return lines if in RDWC.

Way overkill on the airpump suggestions lol...you always hear the old heads who grew straight up 13% hemp plants saying "blah blah blah you need so much air flow" no you...not at all. You need about 1 watt per gallon and a 5 gallon DWC w/ net pot in place and filled properly is like 3.5 Gallons. So you need a 3.5w air pump and that is going to be more than enough for a singular bucket. The oxygen requirement being wives tailed around is outright wrong. You need oxygen yes but if you can see bubbles from your stone it's enough, now to properly seat your plant the net pot should barely touch the water so the air bubbles pop and spray the roots. Debacle university seems debatable at best for most of his information.

More air is better than not enough and just seeing bubble is not enough. Went to your channel to see how it is is done, and did not find any cannabis videos....

What’s the recommended temperature to keep the maximum dissolved oxygen content in the water? The colder the water, the more oxygen it can hold, but how cold is too cold for a root system? Can I use hydrogen peroxide to increase my oxygen levels and not harm the plant? How hot is too hot? When does pythium start showing up, and how can you treat it? Asking for the new growers out there.

@T-1000 WizOh'd Hahahahaha! It’s ok. I know the answers to all my questions. There’s a lot to look out for while running a DWC or RDWC system.

@T-1000 WizOh'd Kratky works fine if you run it properly, but I’d advise against using it to grow high value crops. It’s awesome for lettuce and other things. Glad to see yet another Canadian on here! I’m in Alberta

Ideal root-zone temperature is around 72F, so this is the suggest target temperature.

RDWC is a type of DWC, referring to the more general category ensures a wider audience.
