Joe, I am impressed by your conservative approach to getting there, wherever it may be. In the 60s I ruined a new vw beetle up there in one year. Chassis cracks , holes straight through the mudguards like bullet holes from smashing through run throughs as the crossings were called then, they were lined with crushed hard stone. I watch you cos of your excellent photography. The beetle traded after 13 months from new for 1300 dollars. Lesson learned!

Hey Joe. As mentioned above, fit a rimlock to reduce the tyre spinning on the rim. Also, if you aren't already doing it, leave the valve locking nut loose. That way it reduces the chances of ripping the valve stem out of the tube. I screw mine up under the valve cap. 👍👍

@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Yes a lot happened in one day 😂. It good to know there are still good humans out there, it warms the heart. The bike keeps doing what every I asked of it with not fuss. Yer the tyre/tube issue was probably my fault. Either it was too low in pressure and heat up and blow the tube or going through the track and water the tyre spun on the rim (like on a dirt bike but they have rim locks to stop this happening) which pulled the tube and ripped the valve off. I'll be better prepared for next time knowing both those potential issues. Glad you enjoyed the episode and thanks for the continued support.

Yes a lot of people are into short dopamine hits (social media etc) but easy come easy go, but when as you have to work hard for it and things become difficult and you push through the hard bits the dopamine hit lasts a lot lot longer and turns into satisfaction and memories that can last a life time. I wonder how many people remember the social media they scrolled yesterday or even a few hours ago. Awesome that you got to get out into the backcountry, get out there every chance you get, you're living the dream. Thanks Dave
@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed the episode. Yes happy to have got in and out in one piece. Yes it warms the heart meeting people like that. Picking the Royal Enfield Himalayan, well I do have video on the channel that goes into that (link at bottom), but 2 main things, first what did I actually need from a bike, I have a dirt bike and use that to push my riding ability, more enduro riding. But for these trips I needed something bullet proof, something I could drop and it wouldn't break, something I could physically pick up after dropping, something that could explore off the beaten track, I didn't want to race through these places so it didn't need to be the fastest just capable of getting through rough, hilly, washed out, etc tracks. The other thing was the cost, I got mine second hand for 6k. If I had wanted one of the more expensive bike 3 - 4 times the price, I would still be saving for it and would have missed out on riding, exploring 40,000km of this country this year and all the experiences that happened. Wow Joe so much going on, it’s nice when good people come along and understand the area and hazards particularly into the night. That’s life saving stuff. The photos were fantastic, you really got hose colours and contrasts so beautiful.

Fantastic again....pew you feet smell....the tube valve stems fail when you run too low pressures and the tyre/tube over heats especially with ultra HD tubes. I watch your Chanel because I am a ADV rider, but the still photos are amazing.
@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I am happy you are enjoying the series, yes everything will need a good scrub at the end of the trip. Yes I am learning from experience, the valve was actually gone, so either as you say it was the heat or the tyre spun on the rim and pulled the tube and ripped it off. Either way I will be more on top of it from now on, Thanks for sharing you information with me it all helps.

Joe, great episode... did u have a spare tyre which u put on or a spare valve.... I wasn't quite sure what happened and how u fixed it?

Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. Yer I wish i had filmed more, but with the adrenaline rush, people there, being tired, also needed to do it as quickly as possible as the light was fading, it was hard to focus on, I only just got the camera on that i did at the last moment. But I have 2 tubes (new) one for the front one for the back, plus a repair kit, but as the valve blowoff needed a whole new tube. So I pulled out the tube with the damage valve out and replaced it with the new one.

Hi mate, I am glad you are enjoying the series. That would have been more of an adventure back then. I have now done just over 45,000km in a bit over a year.

What a wonderful story. How far on the F trip did you go?
@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, not sure what you are referring to as the F trip. The second series I'll be at around 40,000km on the bike, I ended the first series at 22,000km so around 18,000km on this one

@@freewayproject when your tank starts getting low , maybe 5l left. It starts counting km up.

Guessing it was too low tyre pressure that caught you out, and caused the tube to overheat and the vulcanising around the valve to fail
@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Yes not exactly sure someone else said it may have been the tyre spinning on the rim so pulling the tube then the value, luckily all turned out fine this time, a couple of things to work on to hopefully stop form happening again

You didnt flood it, you tripped the tip over sensor that shuts the bike off if it falls over and hurts the ground. Bike vertical ( not on side stand) key off. Wait 30 seconds, key on and hit the starter. Leave it on the side stand it takes about 5 minutes to reset.
@freewayproject10 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, yes I did exactly that and it started, but thank you for letting me know what's actually happening so next time (as there will be a next time) I know the procedure and don't just fluke getting it started.

Brother show the cockpit of the vehicle
@freewayproject Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I would genuinely like to know why you would want to see the cockpit ( gather you mean the instrument cluster) ? I find when I watch other peoples video they have there camera pointed down and I can't get a good view of where they are and the landscapes they are riding through as the landscape is always changing and is very interesting, where as the cockpit is always the same so does not help move the story forward, there is no motivation to show it. Well except in this video where I was running low on few and was not sure if I would make it so I show the cock pit and the petrol gage which was on empty, so there was a reason to show the cockpit as it help explain why I was worried about running out of fuel. I would really like to know your thoughts on showing the cockpit.
