Hi Tom, I’m from Florida and I’m moving to Greensboro Nc. I have an excavator and I’m afraid of finding enough work for my machine. Im trying to get a lowboy for transport. Thanks for your videos!

I don’t own a low boy, but I also don’t move the hoe very often. I contract with a heavy haul service. He has keys to my machine and I just tell him where it’s at and where to take it. I don’t mark up hauling costs to the customer, it’s just direct billed to them. Just get a few jobs. Tell everyone you meet that you own the machine and be honest about what sort of jobs you can take on. Work will come.

I have about 17ft of sandy soil before I hit clay. I'm debating if to make a 10ft deep hole and haul clay in or try dig the clay out to line the pond. Think the excavator reaches 17ft so that will also be a challenge.

Does the sandy soil hold water if it’s compacted? My topsoil for example is a sandy silt. Undisturbed it’s highly permeable, but once compacted it’s almost as good as clay. If you watch my other video about digging a pond in pure sand you can see worst case scenario. If you have surplus clay below your sandy soil I would suggest benching down through the sand and using your own clay bottom to line over the exposed sandier soil to the too

Seems to be a big drop in rpm there fella,,,, when you croud your bucket!? Is that an old engine with tired output? I had something similar but setting valve lash and new injector nozzels, brought most power back.. dunno just chewing the cud...!

Haha, definitely crowding the bucket. And yeah it bogs down almost every time. Seems to be starving for fuel most of the time. I change out filters on the regular but I know the tank is full of shit too, and once a year or so I have to blow back through all the fuel lines. I was planning to add an electric fuel pump but just never have done it. I have changed the injectors a few years ago. Hydraulic pumps might be laggy but I’ll have to wait until the shit to justify rebuilding them.

@@TomBrueggen yeh,, governor asking for more but supply not there,,, your prob right with that if you're not getting black exhaust when it happens.. I suppose its easily proved with can of diesel direct to your pump.. if only we had more time..:) have a goodun n thanks..

Good point on the smoke. Now the exhaust pipe is behind the cab where I can’t see it, but I’ve certainly never noticed Ol’ Rosey rolling coal when she bogs down like that. Man I bought all the fittings to add an electric pump 2 years ago but then auto zone kept cancelling the order for the pump itself and then I just kind of forgot about it. Maybe some day… Thanks for watching bud!
