The AGM-65E2/L Maverick has now been added to the Harrier along with some more realistic limitations in the use of all Mavericks. See here how to use it.

I do not understand how you do not have a much bigger audience... The quality of all these tutorials is immaculate!

Thank you for making this tutorial covering the effective employment of the RAZBAM AV8B's AGM-65E2/L Maverick missile in DCS World for us Deephack.

This is great, and I can follow the steps and get the first missile off no problem. However, running into issues with subsequent ripples....... What does a stationary X in the seeker head view, or NOT seeing one in the HUD indicate? Missiles are definitely uncaged and warmed up, just having problems getting the missile to pick up the laser....What are the things that can prevent this? Thanks..( I appreciate this is not a help forum, but posting on DCS has not helped and I don't know who else to ask....!)

A further question, in the TOO mode, how do you know the laser has acquired the target? You fired the laser and almost right away uncaged and rifled a missile....what indication is there that it has acquired the target ? Apart from viewing the seeker feed to see the white box indicating a locked target, how do you know if the missile has acquired a target?

There is also a small square which appears in the hud when you uncage. This will scan back and forth across the hud before acquiring the laser and will jump to the location of the TGP once it acquires the laser. Look out for the square being on target.

Hi, I would like just a clarification as I find the Harrier very finicky. Comparing it to the A-10C, you have a big, clear, button to start the cooldown/alignment process, another big box stating the time and you can also shut it down again. Now..ok, Harrier and A-10 are two different aircraft but, I do not get it, does the Harrier has nothing like it? When the Mav it is cooling down? What start the cooling/align process? What warn me if it is cooling down or not? Are there any downside of keeping it always ready? Some time-out or sensor burning? Do I ever want to shut it down? If so, How? Yes, I can see if it is ready or not, but that's really it? Sorry for the various question, but this is the only plane where various time I failed a mission because of the mavericks, I literally stopped using them after the last 3-6 months of updates.

Hello sir! Most of your questions are answered at 3:44. As for keeping it spooled there is no issue there, it's not like the IR models where you are consuming something like coolant. The sensor cannot burn out and actually is caged until you press the uncage button. No reason to shut it down but if you want to you just select another weapon profile, then you would need to spool it up again to use though.

@@deephack Well, first and foremost, thanks for answering! Honestly, I don't see them really answered, or I may just be missing something. I certainly don't have phrased them correctly. I'll try again with just fewer. - In the video you set A/G, Master Arm ON, went to Mav page and selected it, it is all of this necessary to start the align process? If yes, it must be in that order? - Ok, If I see Standby it is cooling/aligning, but there is something that let me know at what stage in the process we are? Except me manually hit the timer and counting seconds I mean. For Laser it is only 90 sec, but for IR it is 3 min, IIRC, that's a long time to guess. - I revers the question of "How do I switch it off?" to, "Why it automatically switch itself off?". I tried after watching your video and with the Laser (E2) Mav, after the align process it is done and ready to be uncaged and fired, if at any moment I deselect it or switch weapon, it shut down, let's say, and it need to align again for 90 sec. It is this a bug, something that's intended or just me missing something crucial? With the Old Laser Mav was not happening nor with the current IR. Just a brief question regarding IR. What is their max active timing? 30-45 min? How to turn them off? Opposite to the laser ones, once cooled I saw no way to turning them off, like if I were going to RTB and doing something else. Thanks again.

You only need to select the MAV to start the spool up. The other steps are only required to actually fire it. The only feedback you get is standby or ready. If standby then it is spooling up, if ready then the spool up is complete. Correct on the 3 minutes for the IR mav. The missile never automatically powers it's self off, what you are doing when you deselect it or select another weapon profile is that the pylon it is hanging from is no longer powered. This is accurate to the real aircraft for the harrier. With the IR maverick you can remove power and it will take some time to warm up again so the issue isn't apparent there. Supply of coolant for the IR Mav will last a varying amount of time depending on ambient temperature. Usually between 30 minutes and an hour. Deselecting them does power them off just like the laser mavs.
