This is what it looks like when you've come full circle. You start life as a musician, working hard to make money doing something you love, then you eventually end up with the money, and go back to focusing on the thing you actually love, making music and having fun doing it. These guys have all had the lime-light at some point, and they all still do, but they are at a stage in life where this magic moment in time to just take what they want, and sing it, tribute songs, cover songs, new songs, is finally fun again, and they don't have to care if it's a number 1 hit, or if it makes them a ton of money so they can pull off the next project or tour, etc. Music that is this much fun, thank God for that! I love it! Keep on rockin' you guys, always!

+AJ Reynolds I read the same thing as well as after his 1st leg he sent some tapes to Sam as well, so here's crossing my fingers and toes. Although Ed put out a cryptic message recently about playing a Steinberger guitar he hasn't played since the Sammy Days and people asking for that guitar back. Be prepared for something somewhere with these guys, no that the contract with DLR is ended.
@timgeary19088 жыл бұрын
+AJ Reynolds Anyone who read Sammy's autobiography knows there is no way in Hell that he will ever play with Eddie again. Especially after the way the VH brothers treated Mike. If you want VH, you are stuck with DLR.
@timgeary19088 жыл бұрын
+Ozzy Maldonado Sheehan is one of the greatest instrumentalists ever born and Vai is a fantastic guitar player. I would pay money to see either or both. DLR, on the other hand, is past the point of seeing. While never a great vocalist, in his prime, he was a fantastic front man. But without the athleticism and without the lion mane of hair, he is nothing.
@tgear778 жыл бұрын
+Tom Cass I used to see Talas in and around Buffalo, NY when I was in my early 20s. I don't think it was Sheehan that was limited but the band itself. As for your last statement, I feel that he is the bass equivalent of Eddie Van Halen. All the tricks in the world, but not the most melodic of players.
@tgear778 жыл бұрын
+Tom Cass Same here. Used to play in bands throughout my teens and twenties. James Jamerson rules! I always liked Squire's sounds and deep runs even though I am not that big into progressive. Jaco was great especially in Weather Report. Another all time favorite is Pino Palladino who can play with anyone. Stanley Clarke, with that awesome fingerspread of his, is so melodic. I could listen to him all day.

At 62 years of age, I must say, this is one of the BEST live performances I have ever seen. Joe was rocking that guitar! Many might remember, in the 70's, this song had an organ in it. Joe brought it in his guitar.! Sammy and Michael wailed on this like nobody's business. The band was tight and the audience was rocking! "I gave it a 10 because it had a good beat and was easy to dance to..." :-)

Satriani.... Michael Anthony... Chad Smith... never heard better...period... Their version of this tune is spot on ....and above and beyond...the smile on Satrinia's face says it all.... ROCK ON.. !!!

Wow! this is what it's all about. As a side note: I think if Eddie and Alex would get their heads out of their asses for just one minute and make one last VH record with Michael and Sammy, I think they can finally close the VH legacy on a solid high note. One last Van Halen record is most welcomed and if they do it right it will close the book the right way. But then again, it looks like Sammy and Michael are doing just fine without VH. This is one of the best DP songs to do live and these guys not only nailed but owned it.

This just a few things how great Deep Purple was as a band, the recreation Chickenfoot does, with the harmony screaming of Sammy and Michael the drumming and of course the virtuoso playings of Joe Satriani.
