I used to work at a venue called Vicar Street in Dublin and got to watch a show of his years ago, maybe around 2011 or so. He was just such a great guy, his interactions with the audience, his absolutely drama free approach to dealing with venue rules etc. He was the absolution antithesis of some of the musicians we got in.

Yeh I’m thinking he became this way dealing with David Lee Roth lol

Yes and he has incredible abilities to give new voices to the guitar. Yngwie is a beast of a shredder that can with skill and attitude shrink the tallywhackers of all those in his presence. His playing is incredibly fast and very impressive but he most definitely (and I know it's been said a million times) just lacks expression. He's played the same way forever. Doing the same neoclassical, minor scale stuff. Never got into Jazz guitar at all with that type of talent and after all these years odd to me. No Stravinsky-esque incorporating of progressive concepts. He is the technical shredder equivalent to AC/DC. Vai gives it up to Malmsteen because he knows how great he is at shredding his ac/dc harmonic minor shit combined with his showmanship. And I know there's this downplaying of ego and all that but...c'mon...we all know Blue Powder is better than anything Yngwie ever did, no matter how many arpeggios were swept.

@GuitarSlinger21123 жыл бұрын
Winter NAMM about ten odd years ago I was about 30 feet away from him trying to get a photo and a jackass security guard kept intentionally blocking my shot. Steve noticed and he looked over and held a smile for much longer than most would have to help me get the photo. I always thought that was a good sign that he was an actual ok guy and not just putting up a front on interviews like some seem to do.
