Just don’t expect to get a good response. I don’t think you can even fit the full 671b model in consumer grade desktops. Running 32b distilled Q4 quant model should have no problem tho, with good balance of accuracy and speed.

The US OVERpays in many/most areas. Defense contracting, healthcare, housing...you name it. There's a big FINANCIAL result but NOT an actual physical result. For example defense/healthcare companies have great financial figures but often fail to deliver ships, airplanes etc OR provide adequate effortable health care. The same is true in the AI field a LOT of money is being spend but the results aren't that impressive. There seems to be a lot of "diverted" money ending up in pockets where it shouldn't be?
@passby8070

Yes, that's exactly what I think as well. GDP is after all, about productions. China has 200x ship building capacities of US, built 45,000km of high speed rails, metro in every city and hundreds of maga cities at the same time produces the majority of worlds goods. How on earth that US still be more productive? Where was the product of those GDP? Is it from services such as financial and legal that does not actually produce anything?
@JimBob1937
@JimBob1937 Күн бұрын
@@passby8070 , GDP per capita is a good estimate of per capita wealth (assuming a roughly even wealth distribution). More production per a given GDP is not necessarily better, as it largely just means the main input cost, labor, is lower. If you pay everyone far less, you seem like you're being more efficient for a given GDP, but you're also reducing your per capita wealth, which is generally seen as negative. Your perspective also assumes physical goods production is the ultimate goal and ignores service industries that have a large impact on economies.

New research shows that China has by some metrics eclipsed the United States as the biggest producer of A.I. talent, with the country generating almost half the world’s top A.I. researchers. By contrast, about 18 percent come from U.S. undergraduate institutions, according to the study, from MacroPolo, a think tank run by the Paulson Institute, which promotes constructive ties between the United States and China.
@jrtd102
@jrtd102 Күн бұрын
Of the 18% from US I wonder how many % of the A.I. researchers is of Chinese descent ? Regrettably, in the past couple of years in the US due to the intense Sino-US competition there has been a rise in hostility towards China-born researchers and scientists. .Many of these people are leaders in their fields of research and when they feel unwelcome and unappreciated they would naturally choose to return to their home country China. So it is no surprise that China would benefit enormously from the returnees . American dominance in science and technology is certainly waning. We can expect to see more breakthrough's in China like DeepSeek , proving once again that billion dollars of funding cannot replace old fashion brain power and ingenuity.

It great to highlight the ongoing competitive nature of the market, in tech. Don't listen much to the instinct of panic even in the realm of intelligence. This could be a positive development, as it may help eliminate poor investment choices. The focus should remain on building robust AI infrastructure for the long term.i am long Nvidia and msft and will buy more into the new fews dips. Love it

Well, this is a wake up call for Americans, who focused and spent all their time, effort, resources and money on woke agendas, promoting LGBTQ and diversity for the last 2-3 decades, while China focused on science and technology, engineering and research and development. The US is no longer the leader when it comes to knowledge and innovation but leads world in greed - granting their CEOs billions in salaries while doing nothing. I'm afraid the USA will never be able to catch up. What's worse is the quality of US education is going down - no emphasis on STEM (science & tech, engineering and math). MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge etc are all lagging behind Chinese or Asian universities.
