@@MattDieterich One item I struggle with is converting my work to a "Non-Linear" TIF. I change the IEC profile, save it as a TIF, and it comes out completely unprocessed again in TIF. So, I take it over to Photoshop and do the work there...again.
@MattDieterich4 жыл бұрын
@@Zealor365 hi Mark, I think the issue might be not applying a final stretch to the image before saving. Did you using the ArcsinH stretch to your image? That will take the image non-linear with that stretching so you can save it as a 16 bit TIFF and then open it up in Photoshop.

A very informative tutorial. Some bright stars have horizontal spikes, where do they come from if you're using a refractor?
@MattDieterich4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I noticed that as well when shooting. Since it's a refractor there shouldn't be diffraction spikes since there isn't a secondary mirror held in via spider vanes. I think the spikes are from the filters I was using, or some reflection off the filters inside the camera.

I just got the SkyGuider Pro Christmas, so I'm looking forward to getting into some astrophotography. Now I just have to decide on which software I want to jump into. Which would you recommend for a complete beginner? I'm assuming there will be a learning curve on all of them. I do hear people complain about the price of PixInsight but from what I've seen in other videos that have done comparisons, the PixInsight software seems to have the edge over the rest.
@MattDieterich4 жыл бұрын
That is awesome you got a tracker! They are a great piece of gear to start learning astrophotography with. I do know PI can be tricky to learn, but there are many great tutorials available on YT and online in general to help learn that software quickly. I have heard good things of Astropixel Processor, but I stick with PI since that is what I have used for 5 years or so. Photoshop is another software you will want to get and begin. As always, reach out if you need any help!

@@MattDieterich Thank you so much Matt ! I found it straight away on Tidal, and it's a gorgeous piece, perfectly suited to this video and astronomy type material in general - great choice ! If you haven't already heard of Stellardrone (artist) - they have some glorious spacy ambient music in a similar vein. I'm a musician myself and love finding new stuff that resonates. I wish that more youtube creators would credit the music they use in their videos, as it's a small token, and most people don't realize the amount of years, time, money, sacrifice that musicians go through to create and record lovely pieces like this - just a thought. Best wishes for the new year to you and yours !

I'll be honest, it actually doesn't look too good. That blotchy background doesn't really look like the dust and gas which is around there. Something happened, maybe during your background extraction, too little data or too much light pollution.

Thanks for the comments. Ya hard to say, fun pushing the data though. Could be light pollution since it was from the suburbs.
