You save the corn cobs for when you plant tomato plants. You put them in the bottom of the hole to hold moisture when you water the tomato plant

Thanks for a great video. I would have loved having that shucker when I was a kid. We used to get together as a family group when I was young and the kids would shuck corn and snap peas. I actually enjoyed it. We would all take turns on the handle of the ice cream churn when the job was done. Loved those days.

BEAUTIFUL BOUNTY!! Thanks for sharing your insights, tips and practical techniques. My husband watched this with me and fell in love with Danny Corn! Mind you, our inly foray into gardening has been limited to ornamental landscaping, tomatoes and herbs! I was surprised (sitting next to him while watching this video projected into the TV with the Chromecast app) how drawn in he was. I think deep was calling to deep.

My Dad past away in September and he had given us some home ground grits but forgot what kind. They are thick and fluffy. I wish I remembered...: (. I still catch myself trying to call him to ask questions... Thank you Danny and Wanda for sharing with us all. Robert and Sharon

That Gizmo is ingenious. A "Somebody & Sons" (probably) "Patent No." piece of kit designed by either an engineer who farmed or a farmer with an engineer-ical turn of mind, don't you think? I wondered why you made the box so big until I saw the dry kernels start flying. Great gadget meets great easy peasy collection system. Doesn't get any better than that really does it.

Ah, yes...ergot. The grandfather of lysergic acid diethylamide. 'Occurs on wheat, too. My husband liked your sheller but I really enjoyed your bin/funnel system. I liked the smooth sides and it's obvious some careful scraping and sanding made for long hours for you. Thank you so much, Danny. Thanks to Wanda for the slow panning of your "dining room". Yep, that's what our living room and library look right now as my pantry (bigger than our kitchen) is in a bit of disarray. 'Trying to get some measurements for adding on some earthquake retainer bars to these wooden shelves. 'Startin' to bow with the weight of our quarts! Danny, when it comes time to process your hogs, will you show us your methods? My husband likes to tell the kids and family about the time his Dad used a great block and tackle system to haul up a sow for parboiling the bristles off her skin first and unfortunately, the tree limb they chose was partially rotten. Whooo-eee! No one got burned and thank goodness, they got the hog out 'fore she cooked through. Sheesh. God Bless.

God Bless You Good People It is my understanding, there is to be a fertilizer shortage this year. It is expected to be part of the reason for a grain shortage this year. I have for my family purposes, hard wheat berries (both red & white) and I understand (I hope correctly so) these can also be used as seed for wheat. Corn is also a major part of our diet. I have picked fresh corn from my grandfather's field. I remember helping my Grandmother clean, remove from cob, to prepare for the canner. I have a very nice supply of corn I bought frozen and dehydrated for my family's table for about 1 year. My concern is beyond that. While grocery shelves are high priced and scarce, we have not yet felt the effects of poor crop yields this growing season will bring. This video was very helpful, but I have a few questions. I purchased (Amazon) from JoJo's Organics, two 5 pound bags of "field dried" corn. I accidentally hit the button twice and got two bags instead of one. Maybe that was Devine intervention. The kernels look beautiful and each bag is marked with an expiration date 9/23. My intention origionally was to grind for corn meal. But now, are these kernels plantable? I plan on planting wheat this year and my husband really wants to plant corn. We have space. I appreciate all that Deep South Homestead and Crazy Daze shares with us. In one of Danny's Proch Times he rightly said the knowledge of our agricultural roots is passing away. Thank you for passing on you life's gifts.

I wonder if you've used sprouted grains and legumes (fodder biscuits) to feed your animals??? Just about any seeds can be used and many sprouts are extremely healthy for people whether in salads, smoothies, soups and stews. The cost is very low considering the nutrients gains to yourselves and the animals. My favorite is sunflower sprouts (4 or 5 days old). super great in a lettuce or spinach salads, sandwiches and soups.
