I got thunder first after going random and fell in love with the moves, not because it's edgy it's just my preferred playstyle. I have a high damage greatsword so if someone runs away to try and spam mantras I can catch them easily or spam from a range with grand javelin, I agree with the stereotype though.

@@Reaconteur I'm Ice with dagger & shield. :) ~100 hours survived on my build so far with 4 legendary talents, loads of rares. Haven't died to any players yet because Ice Skate is dummy mobility, and I use viscosity enchant + max potions + other health regen passives to keep my health up to near full for the entire fight. Almost a completely braindead build for 1v1s and I can 1vX pretty easily depending on the skill level of the players I'm fighting. (If they're all good, could be a tough fight)

Only 30 Fort for Kite Shield because I felt anything past there would be pointless. 0 Agility, 0 Strength (I use the Thresher talent for 20% flat pen and Ice Skate to get anywhere I need to), 0 Willpower and 0 Charisma (not needed).

If I did eventually need to get some more, I could just always get a weapon starred for pen, which I have banked already. My build just utilizes dagger heavies into a complete combo, really annoying to fight against unless you're a god at parrying every hit...which has happened before in fights.

It's not a bad idea to start with ice if you don't plan on getting another element. Depends on your build, but can be worth it as it saves a lot of stat points when you only focus on one magic.

I got shadow magic myself, while using fist, it's pretty ez to get, just farm croco in the lightkeeper thing on hive Island until you get enough umbral. I did get it myself tho I don't even use it, I just want to get them all to feel complete + no attunement is actually pretty cool, and somewhat better in a way

me, when someone recognizes that greatswords have too much endlag for not doing as much damage as other heavy weapons that dont have endlag "Happy noises" also the reason everyone with the battleaxe is bad, is because the battleaxe is bad, easily the worst starting weapon, dagger doesnt do damage but its combo is really good, and the sword is a really good weapon regardless, the axe just hits slow, doesnt do enough damage for being slow, and all of that, for example, if you parry a mudskipper, and go for an attack, the mudskipper hits first, you have to parry, roll back, start to hit, and hope that mudskipper isnt stretch armstrong today, the axe is just terrible.

honestly I just like using medium weapons because: They are quicker than heavy weapons, making parrying harder They are stronger than light weapons, making every hit count just like if you hit a heavy weapon hit basically it's harder to parry than something like heavy yet you still do good damage unlike light weapons (at least if you aren't using a gun but to be fair guns are literally just a sound cue game lmao)

@@Reaconteur I only don’t use spears becuase when I was new I used to always get them and they are a waste of money and take no skill to the point we’re when I started I used to do pvp to train with my friend he got so much better while I was trash becuase spear gets you into the habit of M1 spamming and it is so easy to parry it does not matter if I out ranged him becuase he knew the swing speed so he could parry me with ease

I mean I feel like swords and any mid range mid attack-speed weapons are bad, because I'm an exclusive light player. They definitely arent top meta, but seriously dont underestimate them. Trust me, big mistake. I personally would rate them as A tier, A+.

If frostdraw is the best mantra but its also very easy to get at the start why would it be bad to get it as you spawn in? I mean why would you pick anything else if you're already going to get frostdraw right after you spawn in? Edit: Also, Vesperian frostdraw spear gang :3
