Nothing like a Michigan UP deer camp. Did it for about 15 years and loved every year.

Great video Dan! Good to see you at camp! Some nice looking deer you have on the trail cameras. That one doe made you when she walked in!! LOL I sure could of used that heater this past Monday, it was cold down here, it was 17 degrees when Big Al and I went out. Of course, if I had that kind of heater I would also need my blind. Only problem with that is it is packed in the camper. We are hopefully heading to camp on Friday. Take care and will be looking for more videos. Juddie - J & J TOA

Stay tuned for more to come. Headed to camp in a hr

I really miss hunting in Michigan I grew up in traverse City hunted all around that area Grand traverse county kalkaska county leelanau county and a little bit south of that area in the '70s and early '80s. I moved to Georgia lot more deer in Georgia and some pretty good quality deer but they're just something about deer camp in Michigan that I've never seen matched anywhere else. I've been in deer clubs in Georgia and Tennessee but they're just not the same as a Michigan deer camp I don't know why, they just don't feel the same. I currently live in Central kentucky on a farm I bought here we've got a lot of deer and some really good quality bucks here in Kentucky I killed a huge 8 point last week. I pretty much hunt alone all my family is either past or the few that are left are still up in Michigan older and no longer hunt. As far as the number of shots you're hearing on I'm guessing same thing that happened in this area when covid hit I think it bought a lot more people into the woods we got a lot more deer hunters our rifle season is only 2 weeks long as well runs from November 12th to the 27th and I hear shots almost daily around my farm most off the distance. My farm's 300 acres and I hunt it all alone pretty much except when my wife decides to hunt with me. I'll hear shots around the farm and I seldom heard shots before covid at least very few. I think a lot of people are still hurting probably out of work whatever and they're putting meat in the freezer. Good luck the rest of the season. I'm all about getting another doe or two to put in the freezer.

Wow that’s some serious acres you got there especially in Kentucky. I’ve herd some good things about that state as far as hunting goes. I’d share a camp with ya down there in a heart beat. Lol…. Yes there’s something special about deer camps here in Michigan but we’re loosing them real fast and I blame the Dnr for that but that’s a whole another story. Want to thank you for taking the time to watch and comment appreciate it

All my family has passed away. I have no kids. I really miss when the relatives got together to hunt in the UP. Now I hunt my farm alone. Hunting is a group thing, men, family, kids, talking, eating, playing cards, telling old stories....

Water came up on us during deer season too. Made it tricky getting across the little brooks. Are the wolves a problem there?
@whitetailwarriorsdeercamp882 жыл бұрын
Yes the wolfs are a HUGE problem. The anti’s keep winning so there’s nothing we can do about them.

Great video Dan!!! I love the prepping and getting ready for the opening day. Your cameras had some action. When I hunt out of a blind I use the same heater. Dad has been hunting out of his blind this week with one, it has been a cold few mornings here in WV for the opening of gun season. Looking forward for the rest of your trip! Stay safe.

You stated that it is hard to get a deer out of the spot by the creek, try a child's sled that's 6 feet long and use bungee cords to keep it in the sled. You crossed big Mac so what county do you live in?

Nice deercamp video. Enjoyed it a lot. In our area the wolves and yotes push the deer out when they come around. I never like seeing wolf sign during hunting season or anytime as a matter of fact. Anyways wishing you a great season. TC
