A small plot like that you might want to try some sorgum, that would be a treat for the deer

You may need to fix your Disc up a little, tighten up the disc and set the angle a little more to make them cut better. And add a few hundred pounds on the disc to make it sink down into the soil

Yep, this thing needs some work. Working on my mower right now but hope to get parts ordered for the disk as well.

@@thehandyoutdoorsman9014 If you do any fixing on the Disc try to video the repairs. Would be a great learning tool for others. Thank you

I need to fix a few of the disk first and then it might do a better job. Have seen people use cinder blocks for additional weight

Too bad that disc isn’t adjustable. You need that disc opened up a bit and it would bury all that chaff. Sure isn’t much topsoil there

Well we can see why the disks are ruined. Disks are made to travel in Straight lines, lift up at the end, make your turn, and drop back down.

You are correct. I have learned that straight lines is the proper way to go. A city boy here trying to learn as I go. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Try not to disc in circles. Straight rows or it will destroy a disc. When you turn pick disc up.

Rylee Williams that’s good to know, makes sense since it pushing side ways on the disc. 👍

dont spray round up on yer field youre just pissin cash away, every few months run it over with the disks and itll chop all them weeds into the soil and youll build up the nutrients on your foodplot for when u plant

You are correct, I realized this when I ended up turning the field over because the grass was still there after applying it.

@@thehandyoutdoorsman9014 yessir, ill be planting some foodplots this weekend as well . ill be doing some sunflowers for bird season then oats in the winter season. i prefer using milo and corn. corn is super easy to grow and it creates a lot of green to cut up and put back into the earth. and milo is good for birds and deer so its a win win. oats are hit n miss. another thing worth trying is clover. if you live in a area where cotton is produced you can buy cotton seed and put it in a big pile and only the deer will eat it, nothing else besides goats n cows will eat it. its 20% protien and you can get about 1800lbs for about 300$ or less i highly recommend it. also get yerself a piece of pipe and chain it up to your your disks so after youre done throwing the seed you raise them and drag the pipe across the field to cover your seed. it will save you time and money+added weight isnt bad either

Pick up the disk when turning

You are correct. I was such a novice when it came to disking when I did this video. Since then I have learned and been directed by others to pick up the disk when turning to save wear and tear on the equipment. Thanks for commenting and watching!

Thanks 👍 wasn't actually roundup, I just kept referring to round up because saying Glyphosate is a bit of a tongue twister for me.

You've got some loose disc there and you may want to add a couple of hundred pounds on it, you're not going deep enough.
@chuckfry1227
@chuckfry1227 Жыл бұрын
Not enough topsoil there. That’s why the disk isn’t working deeper. It’s riding on the clay
