Freds show was one of the only sources of Michigan hunting information back in the day. No Internet. Lol. I watched this when i was 28. Im 50 now. Crazy to realize how things have changed. Videos like this is priceless!!!!!

Thanks for posting these! I grew up watching him here in Michigan. Gotta be up there like Fred Bear as far as name recognition. Everyone who grew up hunting here knows the name Fred Trost. Loved that show.

I have a guide book from 1990 16 pages long, small game and deer. 5 days away from Gun opener and no one has the DNR's ( Do Nothing Right) 80 page deer only guide. I'm sure your father would have been all over this topic. We all miss him. Good luck filling your tag,all 12 of them in the lower if you so desire.😢

Ya know Zach i say this all the time in your comments and ive never met the man, but i really miss your dad. He provided practical knowledge and ideas and even got a law degree to help his fellow mi hunters deal with a tyrannical DNR . mi outdoors today doesn't even compare.

Thanks for sharing this. I can say that my relatives in da UP relied on deer and fish for survival during these initial regulations. So it didn't much matter to them what some fancy pansty bureaucrats in Lansing said.

they forgot one in the 60s they stoped all doe hunting and did not bring it back untill the mid 80s

@@Michigan-Outdoors they did that because the deer heard was way down from over kill. wish they would go back to the old tag system one tag for bow one tag for gun get rid of the youth hunt and stop doe tags aging until the heard is back up to par.
