Love these videos they were before my time one question I have and no disrespect but why are these guys talking about these small deer like they are monsters? Where there no deer back then?
@Michigan-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
No disrespect taken at all. I do believe that the availability of larger and more well fed deer did expand the areas as development started it led to less predators, more food from farmland and Deer learned to add new items to their diet which allowed for more habitat. However me and my family's attitude back then, that still holds fo true today. The Activity of Hunting & Fishing is not to gain a trophy or antler points, it is not about the kill. It is a food gathering activity that gets us outdoors, we soak in our surroundings. The bonds made with friends and family are priceless, the teaching of safety and respect of the outdoors and all the life lessons can't really or are not being teached anywhere else today. Top it off with the fact some activities can be enjoyed almost at no cost. I can cast a line for 30 minutes, get tangled up twice, and not get a bite, however I still enjoy is 99% of the experience. When I do catch a stringer of Walleye and Filet them up to eat later with the family!! Or take a Turkey, have family over for an authentic wild turkey dinner. I hunt and Fish to Hunt and Fish, I don't care if I am successful and even less do I care if I get a Trophy, but If I do it is the Icing on the Cake! At least that is what I learned from my Dad!

@@Michigan-Outdoors Man what an excellent response. I really appreciate it and agree with what you say. Today you can go on any social media site and people are bashing people about the size of the deer they are taking. My opinion has always been if it’s legal and you wanna shoot it…..SHOOT IT! That’s the problem today, you can post your deer to a deer hunting Facebook page that you are proud of and a million people see it and someone you have never met and never will meet put shit on your harvest. Back then it was your buddies at camp that you showed the deer off to and maybe a photo you snapped and put in the family album. That appeals to me way more than this modern day self gratification. I mean a hunter goes to the woods these days with 3 different cameras to record the hunt for their KZbin channel that has 7 subscribers. It’s really just getting out of hand IMO.

Hi guys our hunting area has changed a lot last few years lots of big bucks now. However, it’s been done through peer pressure and hasn’t been much fun tbh. I kinda miss the days when ANY buck got your heart rate up. Now in my neighborhood you just wonder “how much shit will I catch for shooting this deer. I hope he’s big enough to keep the neighbors off my back.”
