Excellent video Wako! Of the Blackjack and the Recluse, which was more expensive? How does the handle texture of those two fare against each other in slick environments? The Blackjack seems to have a very smooth handle, so I am curious. I have seen Kyley and Knivesfishwild take the F1 and F2 and they removed the checkering on the handles and they say it improves the grip. Have you considered that with your F1? Thanks

@papaninjasam I live on Hokkaido island 400 miles north from the contaminated region. So we are very safe here. They don't seem to have a good way to stop the leakage. The reactors still have possibility to explode IMO. Thank you!

@digdug529 I once had a cold steel master hunter. But I remember its sanmai VG-1 stainless steel rusted relatively easily and didn't hold its edge well. Its rubber handle was not very ergonomic nor comfortable. Since then I have never tried Cold Steel knives. Thank you!

Was the chipping on the Kershaw Echo because of the rib bones on the deer or because of the 8Cr13MoV steel? In the other retrial video the microscope vision of the Kershaw, to me it looks like the chipping was from the twisting motion touching the bones.

WOW you have a lot of knives!!! Have you tried the BUCK Maxlite (small version) also known as the "Buck 673"? It is very inexpensive but seems to me that it would be a good deer skinning knife. Thank you for the wonderful videos and if you want less knife restrictions, consider moving to the United States! However, here you will have to process the whole deer!

@traderjoes Thank you! The Black Jack is 175 dollars at KSF. The custom Recluse rarely appears at KSF and I remember it was a bit above 200 dollars. The slick texture of the BlackJack is no problem same as the slick handles of my Gunny and Bravo1. In my opinion the handle ergonomic design is more important than its textuer. On the BlackJack its guard is very good and its simple handle has good traction. Its cross section is ergonomic oval. I have never thought of the F1 handle modification.

@ironmonkeyz I have Winchester 70 rifle for deer hunting. But for Japanese gun control law the gun shop changed its barrel to .410 caliber smooth bore. It's kill range is 150 yards and its accuracy is 8 inches at that range using 42 grain fast burning powder and 200 grain copper bullet. Thanks.

I would love rampless Gunny knife in micarta handle and in stainless steel by Bark River for a camping trip. Scandi edge is weaker and more difficult to sharpen in the field than convex edge in my opinion. A small strop will sharpen the convex edge easily. My 19C27 stainless steel is good, and the future S35VN will be good too. But if you don't need to care about rust at all, A2 will be better. It is less expensive and top quality carbon steel which takes a very sharp edge and holds long.

@LiamMitts Such long blades like machetes are illegal in Japan. So I have no experience on them. I think it will be needed for cleaning the brushes in tropical countries. In Japan we usually use 7 inch Japanese hatchet for cleaning the bushes and splitting wood. You go to Rakuten international Toyokuni web shop and you will find it on their 2nd page for around $80. Its Japanese white steel has similar quality to 1095 carbon steel in my experience. Thanks.

Do to my ignorance of most foreign continents, I didn't even know you were allowed to own guns at all in Japan, let alone hunt. I love your knife collection, and sorry to hear about your discontent for the RC4 :P It's personally one of my favorites, but unlike you I dont use them to dress animals. I love your videos, keep up the awesome work.

I harvested 124 deer last year on the same island, I can tell you this dude is a typical example of the freaks here who hunt. The horns he shows are small, I would pass on even the biggest sika he's taken. GOOOOFY.

@DeluxeWarPlaya Yes, as you say the micro chipping is actually from my twisting motion touching bones. However only this knife, and only this steel took micro chipping and went uselessly dull during a single deer processing. So I don't need this knife any more. Processing deers with a dull knife in freezing temperature is a night mare. The labor itself takes my energy and the sweat takes my heat severely. It's kind of critical. I never carry an undependable knife into snowy mountains. Thank you!

124 is a huge number. Recently the day limit was taken away and I have got 70 a season lately. The horns are not small but middle. In my categorization the small is under 60cm along the horn. 60 to 80 cm is the middle. Over 80cm is the large. I have never passed on a 8 point stag even if it is small. The small makes a handy hanger on the wall or on the tabletop. I always pass on lots of does to go to a stag. Shooting a doe takes away the coming chances for a stag. A doe hunter won't get a stag.

I like Rampless Gunny in A2 and Fox River in A2 the best. Their bevel geometry, edge line, and handle comfort are super excellent for deer dressing. The ramp removal modification will be free of charge at least from DLT Trading. Thanks.

@69Phuket What you say is correct in high possibility. This last quake was from the eastern plate, but the south-eastern plate still has a huge power accumulated for the past 150 years. Some reactors there have already stopped from the government's order until the huge walls are built up all around them. It will take at least 3 years. Thanks.

Hey Sir,I was looking at machete's and wanted to buy one.I don't want to spend too much,so I was thinking of getting a Cold Steel Kukri Machete. It is 18 inches over all in length and only $25.00 - $30.00 here in Canada.I know you are very knowledgeable about the good metal in blades so I will ask you.Do you know much about this machete? Do you own any machetes ? If you do own some machetes would you please do some videos about good small machetes?Thank you very much.Bill

The last knife is BlackJack Model 125. Its G10 handle is too heavy, its leather handle is too light, its stag handle is too thick, and its micarta handle has cheap looks. So I would recommend you a wood handle for it. DLT has some of it. Thanks.

It is my understanding my friend that the pukko or finnish style knives are a all purpose scandinavian knife to fulfill both skinning and fishing; therefore the finnish knife is thinner to also act as a fillet knife.. I have the large wolfpack myself and there are two steels used... flexible on the spine and stronger on the edge I believe....

I have ever experienced their H1 knife which looks like a small version of the PHK. Its handle has less ergonomics and its blade is too thick and its bevel is too narrow to make a sharp edge, and its upswept blade design is not suitable for muscle extraction but just for skinning. Their 3G steel is not so tough as 3V. I personally don't like the PHK.

@ironmonkeyz I have 4 guns at my house. I live on Hokkaido island, and here deer hunting is popular. But I guess the hunter population is less than 2,000 in Hokkaido. Japanese gun control is very tight. We must take interviews from an officer and a psychiatrist every single year. We must pass some physical, mental, and knowledge tests at first, and all are done in Japanese. So there are very few gun owners from overseas, maybe less than ten. They must have a permanent residential permit too.

@digdug529 Like all of Cold Steel's VG-1 laminate blades, the master hunter is severely overpriced. Aesthetically it might look similar to the f1, but it is far inferior in materials, fit, and finish. The Master Hunter's ergos suck, and they use such a thin piece of vg-1 in their laminate, that edge retention is not good. My Fallkniven f-1 is definitely not my go to hunting knife (it is a bit long to effectively maneuver inside a small whitetail's body cavity), but it does the job well.

The hight of the scandi knives might have to do with that the main use for scandi knives is cutting wood , and a low knife has better handling in fine carving but worse for batonning , high blade is worse for finecarving but better for batonning. this is just a guess i made.
