Deer stones(also known reindeer stones) are ancient megaliths carved with symbols than can be found all over the world but deer stones concentrated largely in Siberia and Mongolia. The name comes from their carved depiction of the flying deer. There are many theories do the reasons behind their existence and the people who made them. Deer stones are usually constructed granite or greenstone, depending on which is the most abundant in the surrounding area. They have varying height, most over 3 feet tall, but once some reach a height of 15 feet. Nearly all stones carved by hand, but some unusual stones show sign that they have been cut with a primitive type of mechanical drill. Volkov,in his 30 years of research, classified 3 distinct types of deer stones Classic Mongolia. Archeologist have found 900 deer through finding of deer stones. 700 finding deer stones found in Mongolia. Deer stones are erected in Bronze Age. Later cultures have often reused the stones in their own burial mounds and for other purposes. Modern vandals have also defaced and even looted the stones.
