Good stuff Jeremy! Lots of good info here! One of the best things I heard you say was the response to the question of “when do you move on”. When they’re ready. We get so many questions from prospective clients asking how long the training takes to get them to a certain benchmark. My response is always it depends on the dog.

What’s the earliest you would start a dog? I have a two month old German Shepard I want to train to track deer. We’re about to start six weeks of the basics sitting, heel…etc. I don’t want to over whelm him. Thanks for any advice.

You can start them when they are 8 weeks.... 8 months... or 8 years.... we don't base it on time. You can start bringing out a dogs natural tracking dog abilities the day you bring them home but as we always preach, the foundation comes first. Soo you can train one dog to do many types of hunts ? Can dogs locate hogs with out the hog being injured?
