I’m a John Deere guy through and through but you gotta love and respect the big bud. If a tractor could knock out a Deere the big bud would be the respectable choice.

In my mind the only thing that matters is the Big Bud is still running and pulling 47 years after it was built and more important yet it is repairable without high tech electronic engineers, control modules, micro chips and laptop computers. Good grief Lord have mercy if a mouse chews on the wrong wire.

Big Bud 747 was only 760 hp when created, every hp increase after that was non factory, so that 1100 hp is not factory hp at all

So what is your Point. Deere is not the King of the Mountain. They are still less hp then the Big bud. Dont let your Color Blind Ego get the Best of you. People were so much to Brag about having more hp then the 715 Case. Bragging rights only goes so far. Deere does it all the time. They Up the hp & you guys think you are still Better then everyone else who has been ahead of the game for yrs. Ego makes a Person look so small. Deere people always think they are on top of the world no matter what other companies do. I hope once Big Bud gets the Prototypes out in the field & start building & selling them that some of you get your egos Knocked down .

It's not about ego or claiming who's the best, my point is, since we are wanting to compare production tractors they need to be production tractors. The 747 Big Bud as it is now is not the product that rolled out of the factory, I just want others to know this

Big Bud sold 514 tractors from 1968 to 1992. I doubt JD ever will make that many 830´s in it´s entire production time.@@avdven6505

Yeah; I considered it a privilege to pilot a 525 Bud with a 14 bottom plow.. With earmuffs it still was enough to get to me after only 3 hours!! For that, and other reasons, that tractor failed in the "user friendly" category‼️😵‍💫

You ding the Bud for PTO output that "is no known yet"? It has never HAD a PTO, but because it is all componentized, it could probably be added fairly easily. And why would an 830 HP tractor only have 385 HP on the PTO? How can they lose over 400 from engine to PTO? You don't know the 3pt hitch capacity? Bud has never had a 3pt either. The targeted audience for the Bud had no need for either PTO nor 3pt. The Bud probably could add a few more hydraulic pumps if they needed it. The Welkers just added a 3rd pump their 525. Then you mention that the Bud would only be properly ballasted with triple tires. The original 8 foot tall tires were only duals, not triples. The new LSW 1400's put on 3 1/2 years ago are also duals. There never have been triples on this tractor and never will be. It is fully ballasted to 130,000 lbs with duals. You've made some assumptions here based off other Bud models. I have seen it. I have sat in the cab and climbed all over it. The 747 would drag that 830 around like a toy. And when the 830 is 40 years old, you probably won't get parts for it anymore and the Bud will still be running. She's a show princess now, but could easily go back to the field if today's agriculture required it.

Deere has a three point Hitch on Their new big Tractor. So, what is this a Category 4 or 5. The most powerfull tractor is Big Bud 950 with 35L Caterpillar 3508 engine. The heaviest is 747

There is no 950. Agriworld put out a video 10 months ago about the INSANE power of the Big Bud 950. Then they show video of the 747, easily identified by the dual LSW 1400 tires. Then they switch the video to one running triples pulling about 20 bottoms. That's about 525 Series 3. Having somebody throw a decal on the side of a smaller tractor doesn't make it 950 hp.

But Big Bud has nowhere near the power of the 40 bottom plow pulling steam tractor. If our “wonderful “ government mandates that all tractors,old and new, fit pollution requirements, Big Bud will have to be sidelined until they can retrofit its systems. Copy Cat is a nice piece of equipment; although, not stock either. Top speed is 22 Mph

Detroit is the epitome of old school horse power. The Deere is a beautiful creation. However the Bud will still be in operation long after the new Deere will be in the scrap yard. The shock and awe of new equipment is real. But the longevity of these new creations are plagued with electronic faults that create serious hours of down time. Our biggest gripe of the latest greatest in modern machinery is downtime do to faults, derating, or just plain not wanting to move because one of six thousand sensors is not communicating with the ECU, TCU, ECM, SCV, BS, PHD, or Arm rest display. Most old school machines can be fixed with a visit to Napa or O'Riley's and some baling wire, crescent wrench, and or a single jack blacksmith's hammer. No computers necessary.
