Deere’s Suction screen for Hydraulic Pump

I'm not a JD mechanic, but I'd say you're right.. on all counts. I'd put the magnet outside of the screen, maybe just inside the housing by the spring.. Most likely gear wear and yes, brake disc material.. we dug a 5 gallon bucket full out of the 4010 when we got it.. the brake pads and discs were gone.. Good luck!

IF you go to a JD dealer for the filter, ask to see the schematic on how it was supposed to be installed. Ed's thought on the magnet in the spring would be best,, fastened to the plug would even be safer but a cow magnet will stick to the cast iron case either way.

I had them look and they had no idea they said to put it back the way it came out UNTIL I explained to them my reason for thinking it was backwards

I agree with you on that one about the suction screen been put on backwards 🤔 but have you checked on line on John Deere parts ? they show you normally how it's on, I ordered a spare one awhile ago to change them quicker and washed and stored the other one for the next change and at 1k it had shrapnel covered over I just put it down to what's leaft from running in, looking at the 6620 it looks like it came from Europe from the previous video's cause of the claw hook linkage end's, so the maintenance could be sketchy, do you know anything about the history of the tractor? 🍻🍴

It is European style Deere had no idea what to tell me they said put it back the way it came out until I explained why I thought it was backwards
