So far, I have only listened up to the end of Juliet's talk. Although I am a white, male, senior citizen, I can identify with what she shared, as one who experienced childhood trauma and lives with its effect in my marriage and in every aspect of my life. With the help of the triple jewels, I am trying to transform my suffering and that of my blood, spiritual, .and land ancestors. We have a lot in common. We are not as separate as we think that we are!

So grateful for this Dharma talk! 🥲 Dear Sister Boi Nghiem, I am strongly considering becoming a monastic like you! : ) I live in the Bay Area and have been saving up for some time to afford to attend a Rains Retreat. This year I plan to go to Deer park and spend 90 days practicing with all of you. I have a question: If the sangha accepts me to stay for 90 days and then decides to allow me to become an aspirant, does the sangha allow for one to come back home after the Rains Retreat briefly (1 week or 2 weeks) to tie up lose ends like donating/giving away all my things and saying one last in person goodbye to parents and friends? Or does one just leave everything behind on the spot? And not come back home after the rain retreat is over? Would be so grateful for a response. 🙏🏼
