I hear what you're saying, but what you said would kinda also apply to black stereotypes and blackface😂, which I don't actually disagree with. I grew up in a country where white people do blackface every year on the 6th of December as a tradition to represent "black pete"; the funny, goofy and stupid black servant of Saint Nicolas (Saint Nicolas is kinda like Santa). Men, women and children literally parade around the country in blackface for saint Nicolas day. So I grew up being called "black pete" by other kids during my childhood. Basically, "a stupid black slave clown". Representing fat or even black people in a stereotypical way isn't inheritantly bad, it just depends on the audience that will be affected by it. Kids are gonna run with it and bully others (even though I beat a lot of their asses, me and my brother were the only black people in my school, so I was the one to get into trouble a lot).

But sometimes a black actor will be a ditzy character or an overweight actor will be casted as someone who's over the top and it wont always be because of stereotypes. Not every character will always be an upstanding person, especially in comedies so it's bound to happen. Yet ignorant, prejudiced people will make it into something ugly by cherry picking these characters to use as insults and justification for their ways. Looking at the bigger picture, we can't carry all the burden for another's ignorance and completely restrict our behavior so that no one looks bad in front of the bigots. Now that I'm 50 it's so much harder to get this damn weight off but I'm going to have to do it because I'm sick of how my weight has affected my physical health. And that's what these people need to do. If they're so bothered by the characters then that means they don't like how they look. And that's a personal problem.

Binge Eating Disorder is a genuine eating disorder that needs to be addressed more openly so people can start seeking help for it. It's sad that instead of honestly confronting their BED, many fat people are choosing to confront the people around them who don't find obesity appealing as if that's so absurd. The fact is, even if the entire world thought being fat was attractive, it would NEVER change the physical consequences of obesity. Obesity almost always causes discomfort at best, and serious illness at worst. You may feel fine for a while being obese, but at some point the damage will hit and it hits HARD. Being obese is terrible on joints, bones, your cardiovascular system, your respiratory system, and your digestive system. This is precisely WHY obesity is not, and never will be naturally attractive to people. Biologically, animals are usually drawn to healthy mates first and obesity is a physical indicator of poor health or at least a future of poor health. Obviously, being human beings we can look BEYOND someone's health and love them anyway, but no one's ever going to find the poor health alone attractive unless it's a fetishist.

I mean i undertand that ur upset that theh called you rapsutia but they can literally happen to anyone. Ppl get called steve urkel, jason samoa, ugly betty, dexter, skeletor etc so again its was never about you. U could be called any characters. Are we supposed eliminate any character that might hurt ur feelings
@itsdaija3 жыл бұрын
exactly, you can be called a character just based on personality alone. it’s not always about appearance

I hated the movie Just Wright. Why did Queen Latifah get to have Common he's all washed up. She was literally his second choice as opposed to the gold digger.

I think the representations hit home sometimes, and that is a reason people get upset. I get shook when I see anything about a mother having cancer, losing her hair, and going through all because I dealt with it with my mom. I think some people get shook when they see a fat character being comic relief and not having a relationship because they deal with that. Obviously, I am not saying this is accurate for everyone. You know you tend to get more upset when someone is talking sht, but the sht be true. The problem with our society is it's a fad right not to be delusional about the truth. You got a penis, you got X and Y chromosome, but you confused and mad wondering why everyone calls you a boy. You fat and hang all over the arm rest touching other people, but get mad you must buy 2 plane tickets. Too many delusions in society right now. I don't think we should be mean or unkind to people, but sometimes they ask for it with the fantasy they living in in their head because they want us all to live in there.

See here’s the thing, yes some people are fat by choice and other are not like my grandmother was fat but then she had surgery and lost tons of weight(it wasn’t liposuction btw) as a couple of months went by and after being told for years and years to lose weight now the doctors want her to gain some weight back but she is struggling with that too!😐 The only reason I felt obligated to write all that was the fact that I don’t think a lot of people in the comments are understanding weight loss and health, sure it’s easy to say avoid these movies and stop getting offended but that feels unavoidable for some moments because entertainment pretty much throw out of pocket jokes and characters into every damn thing like even the show Insecure would randomly(other than Kelli) have a fat joke or character here and there. Plus believe it or not but everyone get offended by something, it’s just the fact that some people are more loud and obvious than others, hell some of y’all in the comments staring to get a little more offended by the video itself than the actual people into. Don’t matter if it’s a white joke, black joke, fat joke, or gay joke, if it don’t hit then the joke just don’t hit and if you like it then fine because that’s all that matters and we need to be okay with the fact that not everyone have the same sense of humor.

"you're too sensitive" people can take a joke, but realistically what you see in media growing up, it truly does affect how you view yourself, and when representation for you is constantly getting shamed for your weight and being on the end of the joke every single time or getting called ugly, do you really think it's funny? some people saying you're too sensitive, you're just insensitive because i know for a fact most of you would be whining if you experienced it... yeah i love some of these characters and it's funny, but do you not see the issue with this being the only ones... and then when a character is finally someone who's overweight people always have some shit to say... and making it into a "well skinny people" in the comments is just so flat out weird, anyone can be body shamed but they're two very drastic things and you're trying to justify your body shaming because you've experienced it before, i couldn't tell you i was heavier and lost weight and when i tell you there was an extremely noticeable difference in how i was treated, it made me feel gross as hell. and y'all act like people would choose to be overweight if given the choice, it's an extremely hard thing to lose weight especially with how common eating disorders are sometimes actual health problems or mental health in general can all affect it. but the people saying it's ok or to get over it 9/10 times aren't overweight, and it's extremely harder when some of your mental health issues are because of your weight, trust me i love all these shows/movies too but doesn't mean i never felt like absolute shit about myself watching them, sorry for some long ass rant.. LMFAO yeah i do agree people exaggerate and sometimes pick an issue out of nowhere, but most if not all times they aren't even wrong, i can't tell you the amount of times on tik tok or something people will literally make up rumors about someone overweight and say they're racist, homophobic with no proof to back it and then see the entire comment section make jokes about their weight and body shame them, skinny shaming is equally disgusting but don't sit here and say they're anywhere close to being the same, it's not even a matter of making it a competition it just simply is what it is.. did any of this make sense? i'm half asleep and annoyed lmao

It’s offensive because people who are ignorant take what they see in media and use that as an excuse to mistreat people I was made the butt of those jokes and mental health plays a huge role in self image and how you treat your body I see your point of view but from what you said you seem to not have actually been affected by it so I guess that’s either cause you’re self image and how you see your self but if you never had the chance to build your confidence or self image and you never felt worthy of being around then that’s how you treat your body and your self and it makes the cycle of mistreatment continue which is sad but true . I hope that you use your platform to make more controversial topics like this into q n a and allow other point of view and discussions forward in your videos but if you don’t then that’s your choice

This whole video is hilarious she understand where they coming from but at the same since she just don't give a f*** and she's just laughing at these people's pain but I can definitely understand where they're coming from the dark skin girl in movies fat or skinny was always perceived to be desperate begging for man's attention and no one liked her and then she always had a light skin skinny best friend just like The proud family and me as the dark skin friend in the group I always thought I was less than around my light skin friends never was jealous of them or anything but I just knew my place when boys came up to us I know they wanted to talk to them and not me it's not that way now but it sure was a few years ago it's just all about representation if you always see yourself as less than or cruel and nasty on TV shows or everything that's around you you're going to end up starting to feel that way

Thing is there will always be a less desirable characteristics in people in general to society. The “villains” in movies and the “funny” dude or whatever have these less wanted features. Bruh I have a big nose and I’m short. The short guy always has to be funny or insecure or have little man syndrome. And I don’t care LMAO like if someone said that directly to me then we fighting LMAO but it’s in tv it’s that character. And the main thing is like i cant change my height or nose naturally LMAO. Unlike weight and blah blah blah I know there’s exceptions but there’s EXCEPTIONS FOR EVERYTHING so I think that video was just people projecting. Like that AINT u in the movie so relax.

honestly if someone that looked like yall was misrepresented in the media as undesirable and the butt of the joke yall would be pissed too stop saying "yall can't take a joke" when u wouldn't either
@DeeShanell103 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure everyone has seen themselves get misrepresented though...for example, black women are constantly negatively portrayed as overly sassy, rude, ghetto, etc. lmao but I’m not about to victimize myself and make it a big deal, especially when it’s comedic. Literally every group gets made fun of
@itsmem33 жыл бұрын
Also, there's literally a character for everyone in film.. You know there's fat characters that do great things and there's fat characters that's mean as hell.. There's skinny bad guys and skinny good guys in all these movies.. Which one should I go with? 🧐
@kyos853 жыл бұрын
@@DeeShanell10 prime example is A character literally named "twink" from Netflix's Q-Force, he is a stereotypical flamboyant gay guy, that does drag, and feels like one of the main sources of comedy in the show. Yet the majority of people dont get offended, because he was written to be comedic and an exaggerated stereotype
