I think ppl are confusing body positivity with something else, body positivity is loving your body the way it is while you try to lose weight or just want to be healthier, because you’re gonna be in that body for a while. Body positivity is a good thing tbh, maybe some ppl take it too far but overall I’m all for body positivity and acceptance because you have to love your body no matter what. If ppl don’t wanna lose weight then that’s them, to talk down on them and make fun of their body isn’t doing anything and tbh that’s usually the ppl who talk shit on body positivity and only look at the extreme and wrong side of it when that’s not the full picture

Body positivity just like many movements is to tell people to stop bullying people for the way they look, culture or sexuality. Now the issue is body positivity is people need to understand there is a healthy and unhealthy weight that differs and looks different for everyone. However we can all agree that if your stomach is sticking out far enough that you can't even clearly see your private parts or if your body is so thin that you can see ribs and other bones without squeezing.... we can agree these are all unhealthy.

I could feel it and it was making me miserable. Then I decided to go the gym even though I was scared to do so. Nothing crazy, but I walked on the treadmill 5 days a week for an hour for about 3-5 months. I lost all the excess weight I had gained and started making healthier choices, I hadn't felt that good in a long time. I understand wanting to accept yourself/your size but that doesn't mean you have to stay that size and forgo taking care of yourself completely to make a point.

I don't think it's okay for mordbidly obese people to promote binge eating (an eating disorder btw) and unhealthy lifestyles. I also don't believe it's okay to shame people about their bodies either, like, the word fat isn't only used towards people who are well over 300 pounds, it's used for people who have large butts, people who have rolls, people who's stomach isn't completely flat like a notebook, and that's very damaging and can lead to body dysmorphia and eating disorders (like binge eating).
@mariahnotcarey337011 ай бұрын
Like yes be VERY real about how damaging this version of body positivity and/or acceptance is but also be kinder to people for not fitting society standard of what's beautiful, healthy, or in shape. Governments should make it so that if you get above a certain level of obesity, you're mandatorily committed to a special rehab for counseling, lifestyle training and a special diet to get you back down to normal weight. The same should apply to persons who get below a certain weight. Of course, exceptions can be make for persons who become overweight or underweight due to medical conditions beyond their control. And you have to pay for the counseling and treatment if you get committed. You can pay it all in a lump sum or you can have it deducted from your salary as a tax on a monthly basis until it's all paid. And it should be an offense to publish information encourage people to become obese or to become skeletal.

Death is death and it can happen to everyone at anytime. Obviously being extremely overweight is not good but don’t think for a sec that you are saved because you are on the thinner side. Thinner people can also be unhealthy.
@mikko311 ай бұрын
Yes it can but what everyone is trying to do is minimize their chances of dying and not being fat brings that chance down. If you want to increase your chances of waking up tomorrow you choose being thin over fat
@squarcircle225411 ай бұрын
That’s not a good analogy though. This is like saying “death is death and it can happen to everyone at anytime, so you can smoke like a chimney if you want”. It will bring you closer to death than if you weren’t smoking. That’s the same with fat positivity.

You really want to see how much shit has changed, look up the freak shows fat people back then. They don't look that fat to our modern eyes because we've seen bigger and we see it a lot.

This is insane. When is the heroin addict acceptance movement gonna start. It’s no different than this movement.
@Pennytrewshawn11 ай бұрын
I only hear about this fat acceptance movement when it’s someone complaining about it or when Dee is reacting to video of someone complaining about it, so how big (no pun intended) is this “movement”
