What a brilliant script this is.. a powerful story.. the dialogues are crisp... the fights are spectacular... the emotions are just beautiful.. And the story has so much to offer about betrayal, honesty, family values, anti hero standing tall even though he knows the risks.. Watched it decades ago and felt wow... and now when i watch these clips, i feel WOW as to how this story was conceived and presented so beautifully. It was a BRILLIANT movie .. a movie that stood the test of time.

The character of Vijay in Diwaar was loosely based on Haji Mastan (original name Mastan Mirza) an infamous mafia of Bombay in 1960-80’s. That’s why 786 was his real badge number while he was working at the docks. Get that sh*t out of your head that it was a muslim propaganda. 😅

@@samirbhalerao5579 They weren’t hiding their religion by getting Hindu names. It was a custom at that time to get a stage name for the actors or singers. That custom still exists in Hollywood too (at least for Rap or Pop singers). For example, Dilipkumar’s (real name: Mohammad Yusuf Khan) stage name was suggested by Devika Rani, one of the producers (and co-actress) in his debut film, Jwar Bhata in 1944. Jatin Khanna became Rajesh Khanna later. Meenakumari was born as Mahjabeen Bano and was renamed by director Vijay Bhatt to ‘Baby Meena’ as a child star. Madhubala’s real name was Mumtaz Jehan Dehlavi. I can give you a lot more examples but it’s enough to get your head clear. It has nothing to do with hiding the religion. I’m so appalled by the ignorance of the so-called educated people in India who have succumbed to the false prejudices instilled by the current regime.

@@samirbhalerao5579 The names attributed to them were always by the producers, directors, co-actors or based on certain personal characteristics or choices. Even, Madhubala’s name was suggested by Devika Rani too who was the first lady of Indian Cinema. But let me be brutally honest with you. Their names had nothing to do with the religion which you don’t want to believe. India was always a secular country and it will remain secular forever.
