'Def Jam Vendetta' is the game that was SUPPOSED to be WCW Mayhem 2. The WWE's purchase of WCW in early 2001 canceled the production of the game in the very early stages, but not all was lost. EA and AKI teamed up, put their heads together, and used what was built of the foundation to release a truly unique game in the fall of 2003.

I'm sure Kenny or someone else with money could just reach out to specific programmers who worked on those games. That would probably be easier since AKI is a different company now so who knows if those guys are still with them Hire a few people from AKI with a few more people with more modern programming experience and they could make an awesome PC wrestling game

Can't believe that Def Jam Vendetta was going to be WCW Mayhem 2 till the WWF bought them out and it's a shame that if WCW wasn't bought out I think it would've made a ton of money for EA and WCW thanks to it's improved gameplay.

God the nostalgia! Best wrestling game I've ever possessed man (and the last too since other WWE games were stiff and all that). This game was fluid, I could feel the rush when my Blaze meter was full and I hit the sticks down. Man this game was something in its time and it still is till now to me. They don't make them like this no more (maybe a remod on the new consoles won't be a bad idea). THIS was the game. Thanks Ian

Def Jam probably took everybody by surprise, which is the best kind of surprise. The concept was goofy, but they made it work by taking it seriously. The effort and attention to detail was impressive by ANY grapplers' standard at the time (those facial animations!) I was a big fan of the game soundtrack, the story (this could get a movie adaptation and it would work), and yes, the collection of girls, was a nice touch ;) I'd liken DJV to the NFL Blitz of wrestling games, and it's too much fun. Blown away by the research you put into this, Ian. Bra-fu *cking-vo!

I know its not related to wcw or anything, but since youre the only channel I watch that covers wrestling games, I would love to see you cover Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special on the Snes/Super Famicom, maybe in the form of a fridays lets play or so. For a 16 bit era wrestling game, it has a surprisingly deep story mode with lots of twists and turns. An english patch was released some time ago. And if you dont know the game yet and would like to try it, don‘t look up more than absolutely necessary to avoid any spoilers.

Also if you ever are thinking of a new series I'd like to see quality MX vs. ATV review videos for once that'd be neat idk you probably already have too many plans yourself and I don't expect you to review if you're not interested in the topic just saying it's another relatively untapped market...
