What I love about Vivian's playing that i think is missing in a lot of today's solos is phrasing. Vivian is a master of constructing memorable parts and solos that will really catch your ears and stick in your head... the solo from Dio's The last in line has always been one of my all time favorites... I saw him live with whitesnake in the late 80's and was such a great show!!!

Please stop! They are the best at getting drunk and coked before going on stage. I saw them 3 times back in the day. Pyromania in Hollywood Florida was their best showing. They came out with stage fright but pulled it together and rocked out. Van Halen, Ozzy, and Motley Crue blew them up more than a few times... Pour some sugar on that!!!

Takes me back to 1992 when a new chap turned up on stage as the new guitar player in Def Leppard. We had no idea who he was but he came across as such a friendly and happy person. He still got that twinkle in his eye after so many years. Great guy!

As posted Viv was jammed from day one. The loss of the musical, lyrical and on stage persona rock star Steven Maynard "The Riffmaster" Clark was, remains incalculable. When he was using Charvels in the 90's you'd hear the Floyd sound but since he's reverted back to LP's Collen obviously has had to take some [he has taken imo too much] guitar parts due to the effects, which if you watch what is arguably Leppard's greatest concert at their peak in 1988, the 'In The Round, In Your Face Tour, Denver Colorado, 1988', which is on KZbin, you can clearly see Steve's rig, which by then was a magically put together guitar rig, his epic creme triple pick up LP Custom with Kahler, 2 black beauties, TBird + Kahler, 18 string Razor, one white with Kahler, and he has a triple pick up TB bright red. This concert is not only mind blowing - you clearly get to see the genius play up close. His amazingly deft use of his Kahler, and his Boss delay pedals. The sounds Steve pulled from these Gibsons was imo stunning. You just cannot replicate that today for obvious reasons. Vivian has a seriously kick arse vibrato. Like the one and only 'SpaceAce', who briefly flirted with a Floyd post KISS in 'Frehleys Comet', Ace said in interviews the tremolo made him into a sloppy player as he relied too much on the Floyd and his vibrato suffered. Vivian with no Floyd is imo the same. His 20+ years now of playing with a fixed bridge has only added to his vibrato. He is a delight to watch and like Ace and EVH [different category obviously] Viv wrings every bit he can out of his notes and also if you watch him closely you'll see he bleeds Steve's guitar parts. Personally, I reckon Steve would've been rapt Viv ended up replacing him. The fit, if still criminally underused - s still right in 2021.

Loved this! I am so grateful to Vivian for his role in Def Leppard. We the fans are so lucky that Leppard found/chose him, and that they all get along so well, for all of these years. Finding someone to fill that spot couldn't have been easy, Viv had to learn something new and kind of put his style/pride to the side to fit what was needed from him. I feel like he is the reason I, at 29 years old, have gotten to see my favorite band play live 5 times, all within the last ten years, so long after they started. And I am so grateful for every time I get to see them live, they sound incredible and put on such an amazing show to this day. Can't wait for the stadium tour, whenever it happens! Long live rock n roll, and long live Def Leppard!! 🤘

Saw Leppard on the stadium tour & saw them back in on pyro mania & hysteria (yes I know he wasn’t on them) but I did see him with dio a few times and white snake and then on adrenalized! And he is a phenomenal player. Last In Line played a small rock festival here in Scotland and my mate said that they had been a highlight . I looked online and saw Vivian play and was stunned and annoyed at myself for not picking up on him before . He has a great style with riffs and leads which he makes look easy .
