Defeating Runt on Hardcore!

Hello everyone and thank you for watching,
Here is my first fight with Runt on Hardcore mode. It was a long duel to the death, but at the end I prevailed! I even managed to execute all long sword combos except one!

not gonna lie on my first playthrough I killed this guy with an arrow to the head, it was as disappointing as it was funny "welp there goes the boss fight"

On my first playthrough I hit him with a headcracker shot and knocked him clean out...then walked over and stabbed in through the heart to finish him off...THEN...the cutscene after brought him back to life, only for me to kill him again. Phahahahahaha

Looks like they gave Runt chain mail and a helmet to make him hardcore. Cinematic Runt is the one you fight in normal mode.

I uh... over leveled strength, traded some hits, won a clinch and got him stuck against a wall, and did a wrist strike combo, master striked, then did the doubling combo. He wasn't too hard.

He'd instakill you then, even in full armor, it is a polearm that has high blunt damage, it was meant to be super overpowered so fighting him while he is using it is suicide.

I did beat Runt on hardcore with a piercer and a blow to the head for “head cracker.” Was able to rob him of his armor and do a mercy kill. Funny as hell.

Nice Kill! Runt is HARD on Hardcore mode! For anyone who doesn't know, you can't just use the arrow to the face trick like on normal and you CAN'T save right before. So if you die, it's back to talking to Divish about sending men and fighting the whole battle up to runt again. Make sure that you have decent stats and weapon points, USE POTIONS! ( bucks blood is good) sabotage the camp COMPLETELY on hardcore mode before the battle begins! Take care of the archers first priority and try not to lose any health before the Runt fight because you DO NOT get it back and it sucks going into it with less then full health:)

This is what is pissing me off. I enjoy the harder fights but I hate having to go through the same cutscenes, the same overly long battle, just to get to a really tough fight which I'm probs going to lose.

You can save just before hand, and an Arrow to the face doesn't work. But a poisoned Arrow to the gut will definetly kill him.

Jay Wilkinson this guy is impossible for me man. I've been stuck here for 4 days. My sword is 20 and mace is 20 and str is 16. Hardcore Runt is hard, but the hardest part is getting to him. So often my soldiers die and I have to restart from the beginning.

I've now trained sword mace and axe to 20 and have defense and warfare at 19 and they're almost capped. I'm also playing at 60 FPS now because my tv was capped at 30 and it made is so easy to miss the timing window for master stroke. Still trying to reach him but I will only master stroke him, now.

Tar Naugrim Jay, I just beat him 10 seconds ago. Finally was able to pull off only master strokes cause I had max skill, str, defense is 19 and warfare is 19 with level 15. I'm also playing 60 fps. I finally did it without a bow. I'm so happy

I did use a mace and the fight lasted for like ten seconds I just did one blunt strike combo and hit him in the head in the end and I just knocked him unconscious leaving me an easy kill So if you want an spectacular fight use a longsword

I'm currently playing kcd for the first time and started on hardcore mode. Until this fight i thought that i leveled nicely. After i died to him like 5 times i realized that i was missing something like the parrying moves and some combos. Most of all better armor. It took him 5 hits and i was dead. Now i leveled up a bit and got really good armor (i think) and he was a piece of cake. Took really long but was still really easy

Why would you play first time on hardcore the tuorial amkes no sense since most fuctions are turned off. You simply wont learn the game from hardcore. Its even explained that hardcore is strictly for those who played the game regular difficulty.

Just started hardcore after its years since i played this game and have been okay. Tip: Perfect blocks and master strikes will save you in group fights tremendously. Literally rely on them

Getting in now so I can play KCD 2. After loosing the first battle to Runt I thought "never again" and trained like crazy. Took out the bandit camps for Bernard, the Cuman camps, and knocked out all the tournaments. Turns out I WAAAAY over leveled for this battle. Strength, defense, sword, axe, agility all 20. Vitality 14, warfare 19. I controlled the whole dual and he was pretty much just a playtoy. After getting destroyed the first dual, training my butt off, and destroying him the second dual I can say that this was probably one of my most rewarding experiences gaming.

Playing this the first time years ago, I quit after runt just because it was so time consuming and difficult. After starting a new game with the announcement of 2, I've been flying through everyone and it's been so fun

For people who dont have or dont want to use maces, both swords and axes have blunt strike combos you can do against Runt that will weaken his helmet, after that his head will start to take normal damage. Also if you use any poison against him it will go through his armor, so brew dollmaker and put it on sword/axe and then slice him with combo and he will be easy.

Yves Gomes I love hardcore mode, made the game even better. Multiple opponents can be a pain in the ass, but it all depends on their gear and skill. I cut through cumans like butter, but I have to clear a bandit camp of four, very well armoured opponents and they just fuck you up.

Hardcore mode is good. Even 2 opponents at a time is very hard if they are even decently armored/skills. I usually have to withdraw to take one down with a bow first. The only thing I don't like about it is no fast travel - and even that would be fine if the random encounters were a bit more common. In about 30 hours of gameplay, I've only bumped into 4 attacks on the road and zero of the wayfarer encounters.

Face stabs can still 3 shot people with open or no helmets, so they need to give more NPCs closed helmets, or make face stabs harder to execute.

@@stoler7980 as well as no real good way to navigate I'd love hardcore if it still had a map and fast travel but the hud was still limited and the enemies were harder. Another edition they should make to hardcore is no slow mo as it makes it far more immersive to perform a perfect block or a master strike.

The game removes automatically poisons from all of yours own equipment & horse available weapons before duels such as this one, or against Hagen Zoul, or any other.

I used Lucerne Hammer on him on my first hardcore playthrough and he went down after 4 or 5 bonks to the head. Pole arms are too OP after successful clinch.

Maces are good, but I used St George's sword to beat him for my last two playthroughs on hardcore. I realized the sword combos made a big difference.

I respect a solid hardcore mod. But I’m stuck on this so bad. Getting through the battle part alone is tough especially if you want to kill the archers, but one bad arrow and I bleed to death. And me now seeing someone with skill do it and it takes over 10 mins. That’s so much endurance 😂 if anybody has any tips or even cheats or exploits for hardcore let me know, I just want to get passed this part.

If you have a bow, you can turn on the crosshairs with a console command, makes it easier to kill the archers.

first time i fought him, i was battered from fighting against the bandits and was profusely bleeding, so i died 10-20 seconds after the start of the fight, with him not managing to land a single hit the 2nd time, i one shot him with the headcracker perk

You can learn these moves as soon as you discover who did that unspeakable evil at Neuhof. Once you do Capn. Bernard will go back to Rattay and teach you these moves.

@@stoler7980 It's as soon as you check in with the Bailiff of Rattay for the quest "Keeping the Peace". Bernard becomes available for training in the arena. There you can ask him to teach you master strikes, he then allows you to choose a weapon for the fight (longsword, mace or axe) and starts with fighting you. If you don't get too wrecked and manage to land a few decent blows he'll explain the basics of master strike to you. After that you'll have to master strike him a few times and you'll finish the quest and get the ability to do master strikes with any weapon. This can happen before you even report to Nightingale for "keeping the peace". What happens during the quest at Neuhof, is that Bernard leads the Neuhof search party and as such won't train you DURING this quest, but when the quest is finished you'll be prompted that he's available for training.

Get St.Georges sword. It's free in the woodland garden above Ledetchko, then get full Lord's of Leipa from the rattay tourney, and runt will be a cakewalk.

@@17MrLeon Luck if the drunk or padfoot pot (at level 5) was enough for me to unlock the chest. It’s not overrated if it’s the best sword in the game and is extremely easy to get. I beat the game several times with it and pulling off combos or tapped some guy once in the face and watching them bleed out is extremely satisfying. True, it’s not as good a made for the heavily armored guys, but you can target weak points with combos (usually the face use Doubling combo or scar maker), otherwise pull off whatever you can but try to get the wrist combo.

What is idd to me is the animation that is for blocking some of his blows. You are in the strike animation, but it goes to block his blows. Odd
