When testing heat detectors or smoke detectors always make sure you use the Solo Smoke and Heat Tester Poles to test the smoke or heat sensor to see if it works and not using a magnet because using a magnet to test detectors just tests the circuitry by shortening the contacts in the wires
@nics-systems-electric3 жыл бұрын
I’m surprise magnet is an option and you’re allowed to use it for testing

Seriously from the factory with no thermistor? I thought Notifier was kinda the premium Honeywell brand, it's definitely a good thing these were tested with actual heat in the field
@ryanwoods46913 жыл бұрын
I think it has less to do with Notifier, all of Honeywell sensors are manufactured in the same building. So the Fire-Lite, Gamewell FCI, and Silent Knight/Farenhyt, would all have the same issue. It also has to do with the amount of detectors that were bought for that install, you said 130 detectors. If there was only 50, the fail rate would be way less. Very educative video.

Can you tell me what the Gen-fault smoke detector is?
@joeycaridi30303 жыл бұрын
Those heat detectors that don’t have that thermal sensor might just be a smoke detector but it was marked as heat detector. The reason is why is because Fire-Lite and Notifier are using the same exact smoke detector mechanisms but the heat detector markings are a new development of an adressable Fire-Lite and Notifier smoke and heat detector combo meaning when the development is complete the thermal sensor will be back inside the detector
@FireTech73 жыл бұрын

Some food for thought, seeming they are marketed as Heat Detectors, but missing the element, wouldn’t that make them Smoke Detectors instead? Compare the defective heat detectors with a Smoke Detector. If they look the same, try a smoke test. If it works with smoke, it was manufactured as smoke, but sold as heat

@TheCarson1163 жыл бұрын
I'd call that a manufacturing error of *some* kind. Shame that Honeywell's ownership of all the companies they've absorbed over time eventually led to quality control issues (such as Silent Knight's 6000-series of panels which had hardware problems, I think mainly with the power supply, upon initial launch, which thankfully were apparently fixed later). What cheap plastic those detectors are made out of too, if they can't even take moderately high temperatures.

This is just the beginning of the fall of Notifier. Wait until they introduce the Inspire series (microtransaction hell hole) and kill the Onyx series. Notifier should be the best brand of the 4 that Honeywell owns. There should be change.
