Great job. I think you have proved to teach effectively using a paper and felt tip pens.

This is what real teaching looks like. A competent teacher doesn't rely on slides! Reading from slides only shows the incompetence of a teacher.

Sir which crystal structure has greater strength and hardness- single crystal structure or polycrystalline structure? If polycrystalline structure has greater strength then why turbine blade are preferred to be made single crystalline structure?
@introductiontomaterialsscience4 жыл бұрын
At low tempeartures grain boundaries contribute to strength as they impede the dislocation motion. So fine grains having more grain boundaries are preferred. At high tempeartures the grain boundaries actually assist the deformation through grain boundary diffusion and grain boundary sliding. So for high tempearture applications, say turbine blades, coarse grains are better. Single crystals the best.

Hi professor, I have a question here. Why doesn't _interstitial effect_ exist for anions but just for cations?
@introductiontomaterialsscience Жыл бұрын
Cations are small, so can be easily accommodated in the interstitials.
