Having to ask the same question 8 times is ridiculous for people employed at this level. These people know exactly what the Senator wants to know & are deliberately refusing to answer. The contempt displayed by these bureaucrats for the Senator is well on display.

It's good the senator ask in different ways for the same question. I find it strange the ADF required more ships for border force though Shouldn't it be Border force requiring the vessels then? The ADF is supposed to be for our strategic maritime defence not for people smugglers.That's boarder force job. It seems the government don't want to recruit more boarder force staff. And they filling the position with ADF staff. It isn't good strategy for ADF. It takes the focus of the environment they need to be focused on. China had long range hypersonic missiles for over a decade now. And has every single military base city and town in Australia in range all the way from the spartly Islands in the south China sea. When the defence review don't make any sense as it don't give Australia greater capability. No extra platforms to deliver the longer strike missiles type the government has ordered. It's an improvement but not a capability as we don't have the additional eqwipment to bring enough of the new weaponry in range to defend and strike back except a very few platforms that's undergunned AWDs . And haven to Wait a whole decade away for the other Nuclear powerd submarines. The Hunter class frigates is also a decade away and still undergunned. Not enough VLS cells to carry enough defensive weaponry to bring a capability. No aircraft carrier either and no long range bomber. And ADF is taken on boarder force roles? Australia must be a laughing stock to the world.

@@Nathan-ry3yu Australia is suffering from the affects of a long term Liberal and National party government. All of these complaints are about practice and structure set up under the direction of the Liberal/National party government. Dam shame they didn't care enough to do it properly when they set it up. This BS half assed useless bureaucracy is a direct result of their own guidelines and is spread throughout government. This sort of mess takes a while to be fixed correctly, unplanned reaction policy and actions have short comings this is a classic display of such.

@onewiselady6412

Hmmm 🤔 Don’t think your going to like this very much then lol The I.T.R. (Institute of Taxation Research) has now received irrefutable proof (through an exhaustive Freedom of Information Act search), that the Australian Taxation Office was never officially gazetted in 1973 at its formation. Legally, therefore, the A.T.O. does not exist! A barrister in Sydney presented this information to a Judicial Registrar who was hearing a liquidation proceeding. The Registrar adjourned the case immediately, after appearing "visibly shaken". Only a matter of hours later, an airline pilot who is in the Federal Court in Melbourne, against the A.T.O., was contacted by solicitors representing that august body, and informed that they were not proceeding with the case. I wonder why? I quote from an earlier F.O.I. Act request asking for "certified copies of the documents that establish the Australian Taxation Office". In response, Mr. R. J. Tomkins, (A.T.O. Solicitor), reports: "With regards the creation of the Australian Taxation Office (A.T.O.), I was able to ascertain that the A.T.O was created as a branch of the Commonwealth Public Service by an executive instrument in 1973. Officers of the Commonwealth Public Service are assigned to the A.T.O and the Commissioner of Taxation is put in charge of those Officers by section 25(4) of the Public Service Act 1922. "An extensive search of the A.T.O. library and records management system failed to identify any document relevant to this part of your request. Similarly, enquiries to the Commissioner's Office, People and Structures Branch, The Delegations and Authorisations Officer and the Parliamentary Business Unit did not identify any document. "On the advice of the Australian Government Solicitor's Office, I contacted the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General in an attempt to identify, and obtain a copy of the executive instrument. This office referred me to the Federal Executive Council who then suggested I contact Australian Archives. A detailed search by all offices failed to locate the relevant document. "Accordingly, I am obliged in terms of section 24A of the Act to deny access to this part of your application on the grounds that I was not able to locate the requested document". It was from this original F.O.I. Act request, that the I.T.R. was eventually able to identify that the A.T.O. was never legally formed, and therefore, has been illegally illiciting taxes since its formation! The I.T.R. takes the view that all the tax laws in the country are illegal anyway, (under an illegal Constitution), and that therefore, taxes are voluntary." www.righttoknow.org.au/request/information_to_assist_my_request Whoopsie 🥴

Angus wouldn't know a dam thing about serving he shot at trees in his early years and he's been pushing pens since till he become chief of defence. Angus got the job because he's Canberra bum boy. Angus wouldn't know what the Chinese even have till some US admiral gave him a reality check. His response we will buy some extra long range missile. It don’t matter about the platforms for it. No long range bomber no aircraft carrier no more destroyers. Just a few new subs taking up a 3rd of defence budget and rearrange eqwipment so Army has less capability she be right? Albo I like Angus he saved us money. Can we defend though. Angus No we will lose them all. Albo but has the little illusion worked. Yes. Many people think we invincible for a few extra few hundred km range missile. Albo why won't it work though. Angus you will have to ask a real soldier for that information. I only strip medals and follow your orders sir. Albo. That's a good Muppet.

When it became clear the jokers weren't going to answer his original question, I can't understand why the senator didn’t just ask, "how many boats have entered Australia's border last year?" And then "How many boats entered Australia's border this year?" and then "how many boats were turned around both years?" And then "how many illegal immigrants have been detained each year?" If you ask direct questions that they should know the answer to, but refuse to answer, the Senator should then petition the parliament to remove them from their position due to loss of confidence in their ability to perform.

I commend Senator J Paterson for his diligence, patience and common sense whilst dealing with the likes of these types of trained liars. The fact that the question is so simple and yet these so called Officers of our Australian Armed Forces treat him with contempt, disdain and childish like rhetoric by referring to somebody who is not there. When a budget is blown out by ten million in just a few months, Defence thinks it can get away with it, because they are a law unto themselves. Someone mentioned using the defence personnel on border protection, this is not new and has been going on for over a decade or more. Our Patrol boats are just that, they patrol our northern waters. There is no threat from anyone but the USA, as Henry Kissinger said, "To be the Enemy of the USA is dangerous, To be an Ally of the USA is FATAL". Think carefully about this and look at what is going on in the world, look who requires a violent response to everything...Then look at the dumb asses that always follow. I thought like the diggers of 1915, years of training and now I can try out my skills, a great adventure. Thanks to our PM at the time Howard, we followed the USA and Invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, I did some rotations in both in the early days. Was I wrong...I learned the truth, the lies we were told, and I paid the price. I don't sleep properly, I have damaged internal organs, parts of my lag replaced, and worst of all, I live with it every day. I see what the USA did to the people there. We do not need anything from them, Australia will do fine if we work with our regional neighbours. FTUSA.

I must admit though, yes these ships are multi-purpose vessels, it would be difficult to breakdown the operational cost for specific objectives when they perform many at once. That being said, i would have thought that the increase in ships demand could have been attributed to the increase in regional tension or specifically, China's influence being projected more aggressively into our theatre. The only other question i have is: Given the size of Australia, and the vast amount of ocean surrounding, why is there so few ships patrolling/protecting our borders?
@Nathan-ry3yu
@Nathan-ry3yu Жыл бұрын
Australia government and ADF continue to deny growth of platforms needed to defend. Not enough ships such as destroyers. No aircraft carrier to give our fighter jets long strike capability. No long range bombers. Till they fix these issues ADF would not be able to defend itself. The long range missile they have ordered has given ADF a few hundred km strike capability. For the type of ships Australia has and so far required to replace don't have enough missile cells to give the ships enough protection missiles and offensive missiles to sustain any major conflict in our region if it was to happen.

What a joke he just reads off the mission statement. The question is what data was used in the analysis for building the 23-24 budget. Lead lag indicators what are they.

Australia has 25,000km of beaches/perimeter surrounding Australia 15,000 Nvy...15,000 Air force... We need to increase our Navy x 20 to ensure we cover our waters and detour illegal immagration and drug smuggling. The Air force needs to be increased x 10 to assist the Navy and keep our land assets safe. We have muppets running the Defence force and the Government.

I was wondering whether Campbell was just stonewalling at the start, when he was saying he didn't know what or why the officers under his command were doing, but by the end I started to wonder whether he even knew where he was. I think it's time he went out to pasture, rather than hold one of the most important posts in the country.

And yet, with all the efforts I do believe some sand is missing. Sad to see that so much effort and money is invested and ispite of fierce fighting against the evil enemy (insert one if you find it here) we lost some sand, rumors are even some leaves floated away. interesting to see that terrorism still exists, most of us forget about it due to the lack of news about it. I do admit the other day whan I looked at map of Australia, the border lines on the sea were not there. Clearly enemy is activly erasing them. I wonder, when they talk about 77.5 or 82....is it cents or dollars? Surely it is not cents when they measure decimal points? Do not tell me it is millions or billions? It is definitely good to have army and navy, it might be even better if we knew what they are doing, where and for who's benefit.
