@@curly5330 it's not always about looks, uniforms have to be useful for that profession and comfortable for the weather they are operating in. So dark coloured uniforms may look cool but in our weather they act like heat absorbers and after some use the colour fades up and they look like shit so light colour is better for our condition and i am sure National institute of design put some thought before designing this (and that is atleast an upgrade to our shitty khaki)

For the state of West Bengal, one more addition, apart from West Bengal Police which have Khaki uniform, and Kolkata Police having White colored uniform. The commissionerates namely Bidhannagar, Chandernagore, Howrah, Siliguri, Barrackpore, lastly Asansol- Durgapur have also changed uniform color to white(earlier it was khaki only).

Although I'm from Maharashtra, but I think this idea is not necessary to be imposed, since coastal states like Goa and West Bengal will face difficulty due to presence of humidity. One thing govt can do is only the insignia of state will be different and the remaining uniform will be same like hats, belts,etc.

Kolkata Police uniform looks sharp n crisp. Pure white uniform with leather black boots nd black leather shin guards, wearing black ray ban riding a red enfield...when you see such officers it's brings pride.Offcourse IPS officers have Khaki uniforms but White Uniforms have a special place in our hearts. One Nation One uniform policy should be implemented at the earliest. Even, Indian Police needs a camouflage pattern of uniform too along with the Khaki. Presently, Police forces of North East, LWE states have camouflage. But many states have not. It too should be there from the viewpoint of operational perspective.

In various north eastern states, & LWE states, you will find elite battalions of state police to conduct Counter Insurgency Ops & Anti terrorist Ops. That's why they wear camouflage to hide themselves from the eyes of enemy in Jungles.
