Yajurveda - Yajna--Yagya - The oldest layer of Yajurveda has 1875 verses. - It is a Ved which has Hymns to appease deities. - It is divided in two parts Krishna and Shukla Yajurveda. - It is the largest of all Vedas. - Its reciter is Adhvaryus. 3. Samveda:- - It contains 1549 hymns. Most of the hymns are derived from Rigveda. - It is the forrunner of Indian Classical Music. - Samveda Samhita is not meant to be read as a text, it is like a musical score sheet that must be heard. - Its reciter us Udgatri. 4. Atharvaveda:- - It was very lately included in the Vedas. - It has 730 hymns. - Called a veda of magical formulas/mantras - Its reciter is Brahma. Brahman literature: These were the texts that simplified the tough language of Veda, one or more Brahmana literatures was associated with every Veda. 1. Hrigveda: Aitreya and Kaushitya 2. Yajurveda: Shatpath and Taitreya 3. Samveda: Tandyamahabrahman, Shadvinsh, Jaiminya 4. Atharvaveda: Gopath Brahman - Shatpath brahmin literature was ghe oldest and largest of all Brahman literature. The Aranyaks and Upnishads:- - The Aranyaks were philosophical tects developed in the forests and ghe same literatofurthdr developed jnto Upnishad. - UP+NISHAD shich literally means to stay close. - They are philosophical tects shich are ultimate conclusion of the vedas and so also called as Vedant. - They contain the core of Indian philosophy such as Karma, transmigration of soul, the upnishads include sections on philosophical theories that have been at the foundation of Indian traditions. For example, the Chandogya Upnishad includes one of the earliest known declarations of Ahimsa, Satya, Dana(Charity), Arjava(non hypocrisy), daya etc. - Satyamev Jayate is also derived from Mundakopnishad. Classification of Vedic Period:- 1. The early vedic period(1500BC-1000BC) • Geography: Sapt Sindhu Pradesh (land of 7 rivers) Indus(Sindhu), Chenab (Asikni), Ravi(Purushni), Jhelam(Vitasta), Sutlej(Sutudri), Kabul(Kubha), Gomt(Gomal) • Society: It was of Rural and tribal nature. It was of patriarchal nature, however the condition of women was reasonably good which is evident by 8 type of marriages. 1. Daiva vivah 2. Brahma vivah: Dowry by bride 3. Arsh Vivah: reverse dowry 4. Gandharv vivah: Love marriage 5. Prajapatya vivah: Most practised marriages. Women's consent was taken. No dowry. 6. Rakshas vivah: Marriage with the daughter of the defeated king. Girl's consent was evident. 7. Asur vivah: women was sold. No women consent 8. Paisach vivah: no women consent There were two natures of marriages Anulom(Anukul+lom): The marriage of a higher varna male with a lower varna female. Pratilom(Pratikul+lom): Male lower varna and female higher varna. • Political system: Combination of republic and monarchy. The sabha, samiti and vidath(oldest, women participated) were main political bodies. Political units were KUL(Kulip) - GRAM(Gramini) - VISHAY(Vispati) - JANPAD(Gaupati) - RASHTRA(Rajan) - A no of officials supported the monarch. Purohit, Senani, and Gramina are the most prominent among them. - The crimes involved robbery, banditery, forgery, cattle lifting, and indebtedness. Cow was not to be killed. • Economy and religion: Economy was static, barter system prevailed. - Religion was based on nature and rituals wers symbolic. - Major deities sere all powers of nature. Indra, Varun, Surya. 2. The later vedic period(1000BC-600BC) • Geography: Shatpath Brahman mentions the river Sadanira identified as the Gandak river of north Bihar. - Upnishad mentions about Vindhyachal, Chambal, Reva - This was called Aryavart. • Society: Condition of women deteriorated(Maitrayani Samhita) due to increased warfare. - Varna system became rigid and birth based. Every father taught his child his own work. People were insecure about the jobs of their children. - condition of lower varnas deteriorated. • Political system: republicanism came to an end with the rise of absolute monarchy. - Samiti and Vidath disappeared. - Political units remained the same. - Large kingdoms and Armieds came into existence. • Economy: There was a boom in the economg with the rise in agriculture. - There was evidence of agriculture by 24 oxen. - Barter System prevailed. • Religion: There was rise of new deities Brahma, Prajapati, and Rudra, Pushan rose as a deity of Shudras and cattle. - Rituals had become economically burdensome. - Laghuyajnas were introduced for common people. - Mahayajnas were introduced for wealthy people. - Ashwamedh, Rajsuya, Vajpeya, Agnistorm. .** Battle of ten kings: Das Rajan yudh fought in the early vedic age on the bank of river Ravi between Sudas and 10 kings. Resulted jn the victory of Sudas.

Sir I am totally agreed with your point of view ,one of the reason that Harappan civil... Is a Vedic civilization is that in our scriptures our sages mentioned about sarswati river which extinct in the period of Harappan civil... And another reason may be is,IVC is always performing rituals from starting but due to its more striking features people didn't noticed that but after declination of its striking features one thing remain is that it's Vedic performance , that attracts people more now ,so that's it 😉 that's my point of view
