Jainism:- - Originally known as Nirgranth Sect and Shramans - The tradition was founded by Lord Rishab dev, 1st out of 24 Tirthankars. - 23rd Tirthankar was the 1st historical figure named Lord Parshwnath, the prince of Kashi who became an ascetic and achieved Kaivalya at Sammed Shikhar. He was alive around 750 BC - 24th Tirthankar is considered as the founder of Jainism. He was the Prince of Vaishali, sho achieved Kaivalya at Jimbhikagram near Vaishali. He lived between 540 BC and 460 BC. Lord Parshwnath:- - He was the prince of Kashi. - He attained Kaivalya at Sammed shikhar. - His teachings: Satya, Ahimsa, Asteya(not cheat anybody), Aparigriha(not holding wealth more than required) Life of Lord Mahavir:- - Born as Vriddhiman to king Sidhant Nd queen Trishla in Jnatrik Kshatriya Clan, at Vaishali. - Married to Yashoda(according to Shwetambar belief) and had a daughter Anonja Priyadarshini - He renounced houss hold life and became a wandering ascetic at 30 - After 12 years of immense difficulties, he achieved Kaivalya and was named by his followers as Mahavir. Names of Mahavir:- Mahavir Vriddhiman Nirgranth nath putra Jinendra His teachings: He continued with the 4 teachings adding one more to it i.e. Brahmacharya. It was propagated in Prakrit language. • Similarities between Buddhism and Jainism:- Similarities - Rejection of vedas - Animal right: Stressed the principle of non violence against animals - Both rejected the existence of god. - Karma - God and scripture - Reincarnation Differences...
