For doing points based on kills, what if every map was worth 3 points total? That way you could do a system like this: Blue Army fails: 3 points to Red Army Over 50% of Blue Army dies, but Blue Army wins: 2 points to Red Army, 1 point to Blue Army At least 1 member of Blue Army, but less than 50% of Blue Army, dies: 2 points to Blue Army, 1 point to Red Army Blue Army succeeds with 0 casualties: 3 points to Blue Army So like for this map, I think it was Erk, Bartre, and Lowen who died? So that's under 50%, so this would be 2 Blue, 1 Red. But last map I think it was, where like everybody except Marcus, Oswin, Hector, and Eliwood died, it would be 2 Red, 1 Blue. Maybe also change the threshold once Blue Army gets a higher density of really good units, too.

Honestly, could you have seized the throne on the first turn? If he had the strength and weapon rank as well as a traded Javelin, the top left most soldier probably could have hit that wall with a 6 movement. While he would be unlikely to break the wall, the Nomad would have been able to either break the wall or march through it and instantly take the throne with his 7 movement. Even if that didn't work, it would probably scare the heck out of Mekkah unless he was planning for it and baiting you. Also considering he has some 7 combat units and not all of them can 1 round. If OfficialJugg bum rushed the throne with 8 units without attacking and nobody was on it, then Mekkah would have to waste one unit on the throne, either Marcus or Hector, and the rest on the closest enemies. Though while such a strategy or lack of one sounds good on paper, Mekkah would likely recover fast and you would lose out on later turn offense without reinforcements to replace your Green Units. This is just at a glance though, I haven't played this chapter enough to know.

As a possible rule you could make it so that every X number of combats or kills (maybe 5?) Marcus has, the following turn red player can control his move or he just waits in place. A points per kill system for the enemy would certainly make each side think more strategically. Moments like the "trade offer" meme are funny, but ultimately feel inconsequential knowing that the unit will be back next map anyway. I'd also find it more interesting than just "who won the map" alone as a statistic. Especially since I, like a lot of players, tend to reset if a character in my army gets killed. Now if you weren't bringing back the characters each map... it'd be cool to see you do a run with one other person controlling the AI, characters permadie, and you swap places when you hit a lose condition or beat the game. Iron Man PvP mode, basically.

I have a hot take for these videos for if you do this for another game: AI players can't seize cities or activate objectives/toss green items that let the Human player recruit but the human player HAS to play on Ironman. I feel like the main difficulty of Fire Emblem games, and every trpg in fact, comes from the negative feedback loop a mistake can put you in over the course of a campaign, but the player also has positive feedback loops that can make them an absolute force later on if they avoid these mistakes.
@syrelian3 жыл бұрын
The problem is that this early on, your units CAN just die to being hit with the deathball, with little counterplay unless they're Marcus, its offset normally by standard FE AI being slow to anger, and stupid on approach, and thus rarely ever forming those kinds of death balls

My suggestion for the point system would be to not give the red player a number of points per kill, but rather a points for killing a percentage of the blue units, like .25 for killing 25-50% of the blue units, .5 for killing 50-75%, and .75 for killing +75% of the blue units. For example, in Chapter 14 CyanYoh managed to kill 8 out of the 12 deployed units, or 66%, so he would get .5 points. The number of units that would count to this could just be deployed units, Merliniuss and any auto recruited characters like Dart or Isadora. The math might be a bit hard for some starting numbers, but deciding to round up or down should help, and you probably don’t even need to strictly follow the math. I would definitely consider Cyan’s performance worthy of .75, and if both players agree then it should be able to be flexible. Unlike making the number of point per kill be small like .1 or .05, this will be much easier to track without getting weird scores like 3.85. And unlike changing the number of points per blue player win to be higher and make the point per kill 1 like other people have suggested this scales better to how much each kill is worth. If Mekkah gets 3 points per win, I don’t think that the red player did better than them if they got four kills, when consider that could be only a fourth of their army, and in the context of the next chapter should be really easy given that the Lyndis Legion joins. You could bump it up to 5 or any other number, but there could be a chapter where that could be unfair to the blue player. Another suggestion I have would be to give the red player some amount of points, maybe .25 or .5, if the blue player fails to achieve any side objective. If you’re going to do this you should definitely either make it so that either the red player can only visit villages/steal chests with brigands and thieves or make it so that if the red player uses a cav or archer to steal/visit, it no longer counts to towards the bonus. Also, recruiting red units shouldn’t count to this side objective as it would be really easy to avoid recruitment as seen with Guy. So a good list of objectives would be: visiting villages, getting chests/hidden treasure, getting gaiden chapters, and recruiting green units. So as an example, in this chapter Mekkah didn’t get any of the chests, so the red player would get either .25 or .5 points. But in Chapter 13 Mekkah got both the top left village and the gaiden chapter, so the red player wouldn’t get any points. Funnily enough, in chapter 14 Mekkah failed to get any village, ignoring the cav who got Priscilla’s on turn 1, and you didn’t recruit Erk before he died, so the red player would get the points for that chapter. This incentive would make it so that both players would have an objective other than wait until they can make a decisive strike, so this should help the slow grinds that some maps are.

Maybe each kill the red player get is 1/7th of a point. That should mean about every 2 chapters they can get a point. I think 10 is a bit high, then they'd likely get a point every 3 to 4 chapters( assuming they arent actually able to win through objectives) and that wont make it any more interesting. Maybe an optional rule where if they win the map they dont get the points for kills? To avoid someone just completely destroying your entire army and getting 3 points in a single level, but maybe that's fair, I mean a complete sweep would be pretty hard to do no? Although this is the early game, in the later chapters where the enemies actually start to get dangerous it might not be so difficult to sweep. I dunno, But that's kinda what I'm thinking.

1 point for killing troops would have led to red getting 3 and if wins get you 3 would have at least been a tie.

I really hate how much he seems to take a weapon from another unit and then just sit there hoarding both weapons uselessly, even though he could very easily take a weapon back and do something with it. Does he think having several units charge in without weapons is useful or something?

Is there a guide to setting this up yet? I want to experience true 2 player fire emblem 7 for myself.

Honestly, I think it might've been better to just attempt a frontal attack. You got the numbers for it. Trying the sides is silly since you only have a couple of units to group up on 1 strong unit.

I thought y'all would be doing a permadeath run through all the levels so you can't necessarily count on saccing units as the player character
@syrelian3 жыл бұрын
They're planning to play with permadeath later, early on its a sure snowball to always losing, between the loss of weapons, and the fact that your dudes not named Marcus die in like four hits, and an actual player can make a deathball to make it happen, the AI is slow to anger, and stupid on approach so you rarely see them naturally gather into such a state
@MrObscureinsanity3 жыл бұрын
How about if a unit dies they lose stats? Like a level and 3 stat points. And you are forced to take the lowest level units.
