The real thing is, if he doesn't follow the rules (choice HE made), then he will get revoked and then he will lose his job. To get revoked YOU have to have done something. So having a job means you are free to do whatever you want?

Not being in the law field, some of this is gobbledegook to me, but I still enjoy it. I like judge Simpson. He seems very fair and good humoured.

I've seen videos where he shows the kindest face. But appear before him and try to mess things up for him and he is a nightmare for the guy/gal doing that. He knows the law well and has a BS detector set on the 'extremely sensitive' setting. Love that he is a long standing part of the judicial system.. especially working in Ann Arbor MI.. that place has a serious crime issue (much like Detroit.. which is not far from there).

I appreciate Judge Simpson's humor. I haven't ever been arrested, at 74 I cannot imagine I will suddenly become a criminal. But if I was a defendant and observed the Judge being jovial I believe that would give me a false sense that I would not face a serious sentence. WRONG! You do the crime = be prepared to do the time. Period. Bringing children to court is crazy. Anyone under 20 should not be in the courtroom unless they are on trial. If you csnnot afford a babysitter for a few hours HOW can you possibly afford to raise a child?! Obviously common sense is far too rare.

Uh, fairly sure his salary doesn't change a penny based on conviction rates. The system is set up to try to be fair.. financial incentives to tilt the odds of a conviction is a CLASSIC example of conflict of interest. Keep trying though.. one of these days a good idea will happen.. it just requires patience.
