I think that Zoom court is the biggest mistake in history - criminals get way too much leniency...

1:45 “we contend sitting next to her is contact” … uh what the fuck That’s no contact especially if they’re in a public court hearing. Contact means in close proximity not across the room in a public space

Lowkey I had a pretty fair probation officer when I was a kid. Not a hard ass, but she was when she had to be when I screwed up. She worked with me before we made it to court to tell the judge. She helped me really change instead of looking to punish me.

Lot of the times you go before these people and they show you they are not your peers. But, this judge here in this situation did show she was capable of seeing someone in the position that she oversees is human.

It’s easier to sit on your a$$ in jail, getting three meals a day and a bed to fall into every night versus having to actually put the work in to straighten out your life. Easy way out and costs him nothing. Living off the taxpayers the entire time. SMH.

I almost always agree with Jill Gilettte as far as what she recommends for defendants. Having saiid that, I don't know why people like her so much. She drives me absolutely nuts. She's unprofessional, snarky, catty, and she takes these cases way too seriously and far too personally. She strikes me as someone who thinks she is never wrong and that she is very, very cool. I like her recommendations, I just can't handle her smarmy personality. How can the defendant look at the judge in the face while crying about living in a tent and not eating for 4 or 5 days, and trying to end his own life, to the point where he tells the judge he should be ashamed of himself and then says the way he's being described is "callous" and "inhumane"...and then say he isnt looking for a pity party? Every word he spoke was entirely engineered to engender pity. It's everyone else's fault and everyone else's responsibility, but never his. I don't know if I'm embarassed for him or shocked that he doesn't seem to have any compunction about making such an unabashed and unashamed spectacle of himself. He's certainly much more savy than he wants the court to believe. I believe his manipulation tactics and abject lack of self awareness, complete abscence of pride, etc., along with his criminal bent, serve to make him a dangerous criminal. He has the ability to convince courts that he's sincere when he so clearly is just giving them the runaround. After all of that BS he slung and ultimately getting his way, he had the unmitigated gall and unrestrained audacity to hint around as to whether or not he'll be going to jail at his next court date. At least the judge caught it and didn't answer.

She says she "needs" him home, but does she "WANT" him home?? That's a better question.... Sounds like she needs him to help around home with things she can't do and to take her places, so she rely's on him. It's not the same as WANTING him at home and feeling safe with him there...

This young man is so overwhelmed and tired. My heart hurts for him, I’ve felt that absolute hopelessness before and it makes you numb, and just shut down. Everything feels like it’s too much to deal with, you are so tired it hurts but sleep never comes because of everything going on. I hope things get better for him, I don’t get close to tears often but just seeing his demeanour brought me right back to that feeling.

The therapist is very right to try and help him according to her expertise, but she needs to understand that her understanding of mental health is only so relevant to the court. The court exists to provide a venue for people to be fairly tried as criminals in order to protect the public. Whatever understanding of his mind that helps him is between him and his therapist, but not a reason for the court to prevent probation and the prosecutor from protecting the public from further harm.

Psychologist is an idiot and obviously her therapies haven’t worked. I’m very disappointed Judge didn’t give him a jail sentence. He has other cases in Olmos Park and he’s a kelpto. Hopefully he will screw up and get a decent sentence. He’s had too many opportunities. He’s one that will never learn. Go Jason/DA for taking the psychologist’s lunch 😂.

she definitely had every right to be mad. not only because of the rules comments but because every time he went to them and did a drug test they violated his right to privacy. a lot of people don't know that your body and everything in it is considered private. No government or private agency can take your bodily fluids (urine, saliva, blood, etc) without your permission unless ordered by a judge. if he was told that he HAD to do this and there is no documentation from a court saying that he does.... With the right lawyer he could sue the city for this
