What a great presentation featuring your impressive skills. I’m 74 and have had my LR Defender Td5 since 2008 but it has been off the road for the past 6 years. I am now embarking on a mechanical (undertaken by a professional mechanic) and beautifying challenge. I have spent the. Past week researching possible replacement parts in readiness for whatever the mechanical survey reveals. I no longer have the ability to work with dangerous equipment and cannot afford the expensive internal fittings available at extortionate cost, nice to have but not for a pensioner. If you decide to go into business making window surrounds please let me know. I’m looking forward to seeing your future work.Kind regards Alan

Hi Alan, sounds like a great project! It’ll be so worth it when you get it on the road and can experience the uncomfortable joy that comes from driving a LR. I have had quite a few messages about the window surrounds so maybe in the future! All the best, Margo

@ thank you for your kind reply. The LR is back with my mechanic and the process is in progress. I was able to get a good luck underneath and it’s not in bad condition at all. I’m looking forward to seeing what is going to be required to pass the NCT (MOT) and then I can start planning for the refinements that will allow me to stop driving it in waterproof clothing. Be good to yourself. Alan

I'm looking forward to seeing this progress, I've also got an 2007 110 (Ex Wessex Water) which I plan on converting in much the same manner. Definitely feeling inspired to crack on with it now!

Like mine, I can imagine that will be the perfect blank canvas to get started with. Best of luck with the build!

Great video, I'm hopefully getting a Discovery 1 soon. Oh and I'm a former UKC student too!

Are you thinking of converting it into a camper or keeping it as is? Small world! I don’t often meet many people who went to UKC.

Hey, loving the videos!!! Where did you get the CAD file from? We’re about to embark on our build and I think this would be really useful
@TheLandRoverProjectАй бұрын
Thank you, glad you are enjoying it. I drew it myself over many iterations. I would laser cut it into card, test it and make changes that I needed to for it to fit. Which windows have you got on yours?
@brandonwhitham2105Ай бұрын
@ we literally picked it up yesterday currently got windows in same position as yours but they are fixed non-openers
@TheLandRoverProjectАй бұрын
Congratulations!! Yours might leak a little less than mine if they are fixed! I can have a look to see if I have the CAD file saved somewhere

Great build series! where did you get the Ali storage bins from?
@TheLandRoverProject2 ай бұрын
I looked all over for some good ones that were big enough and ended up not finding anything decent so made my own using 1.5mm aluminium sheets and 2mm aluminium L profile pop riveted together and they turned out really well!

@@TheLandRoverProject They look great - very impressed. I've been planning a Defender build for a very long time, and was thinking of exactly this. Well done
