asimplyfab.life/ This is arguably the easiest thing you could do under the bonnet / hood of a Defender - on a Tdi anyway... Max five to ten minutes (with the right tools) and you may reduce the amount of smoke due to a faulty engine breather.
This may be a facepalm moment so, let me know if I have got it wrong...

I also had trouble with the down pipe clamp. Even now after loads of exhaust gum it still has a tiny leak, but the clamp has held for 8 years now, which is good. I seem to recall it's an annoying clamp that also bolts to a bracket on the block? I do remember swearing a lot while trying to fit it. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your posts.

Love the videos keep em coming. I may be wrong but I think these work by just swirling the fumes round and the centrifugal force separates out the oil which trickles down to the sump. Therefore you could just swill it out with brake cleaner or petrol (make sure dry before replacing ). Cheers from the garden of England ☺

Worth changing, they either gum up or as I found on mine the the o-ring had totally flattened and oil residue wasn't even making it in to the catch can, it was just leaking out down the side of the engine block.

A Simply Fab Life did you notice a difference in the smoke already? I think mine does a little extra smoke, maybe I should try it, but want to hear from you. Cheers

Mmm... not much difference but less black smoke on the hills - although I think my valve stem seals are worn out. The camcover itself is a lot cleaner!

Do these filter out the oil? I got some oil residue on the intake turbo pipe.

These do not filter oil at all but are there to reduce crankcase pressure caused by build up of combustion gases. Some oil residue on the turbo is common (we have too as well as on the air filter) and is not necessarily a bad thing according to some mechanics... I'm afraid I don't know the solution for that (I'm still an amateur ;-))...
