I’ve had this soundproofing treatment carried out by the guys at Audiofile-incar and have to say that unless you actually experience the before and after drive of the vehicle then you probably won’t appreciate the difference to the drive ability and comfort of the Defender by just watching this video. Normally any long drive in my vehicle would be enough to rattle the fillings in my back teeth but the long drive back up to Scotland was one heck of a transformation. So impressed with the service, I am driving back down the road again for further work on the vehicle in the next couple of months.

Keep the videos coming really enjoy them and they are really helpful!!!

My advice is find a resonance kit that kills panel noise, there are vehicle kits available from dynamat or noisekiller, just little patches of a high density mat you place in specific places, you then overlay with a medium density to isolate, then you can add heat insulation,

Did this years ago on the bulkhead/ floors , and went over the top of the bolts / floors screws like you have done except 2 of them in in back corner, recently needed to take floors out and , every single screw that I covered over under the dynamat was rusted / corroded really bad to the point I had to grind them out except the 2 that I hadn't covered , future ref holepunch / dont cover the bolts/ fixings

Great result in terms of sound proofing - but also great for trapping moisture behind the sound proofing panels. Noise isn't the biggest enemy of a Defender - corrosion is.
@AudiofileIncar3 жыл бұрын
No moisture is trapped behind the soundproofing, it’s rolled on to ensure this. The problem in a Defender is caused by Galvanic Corrosion.

Between the tests there only seemed to be a 7db reduction at most ‘when not talking.’ A thorough job but personally I don’t think it’s worth going to this length. Condensation will be removed / reduced which is the main benefit here. Added weight must be in the region of 70-100kg, if not a little more.

its not fair when it comes to the end results. you first test and dont stop talking and when you even give it a slight second of not talking it dips to 78,5 DB before it gets a chance of dropping further you start talking about calibrated microphones and stuff while in the next test you actually give it a moment calibrate to quiet state. so rather then 10 DB its more in the range of 2,5 to 3 DB difference.
