The lyric doesn't mean that literally, it's a symbol of victory, as happened to David, who glorified God by defeating Goliath, whom "defied the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel." It just so happens that a sign of victory back then was bringing back the head of the enemy, which you can see in several passages throughout the old testement.

When I stray from my Church I never really know why. I was baptized in water on my own accord and the loving support from the most amazing Pastor's and church body, it was so much more meaningful because I was baptized as a baby and went to Church and CCD classes for year's and really didn't learn anything, now after only 6 year's as a Born Again Christian I got to know Jesus on a personal level like a knew friend and my defender. So this song really speaks to my heart. No matter what I do or how long I stray I know the Grace of God and my intimate relationship with his Son they will never give up on me. Thank you Jesus for all you went through to save me from my sins and thank you for this song that reassures me that you are my greatest defender and will never leave me. Even when thing's look really bad I know I will prevail in you're time not mine, it may take some praying over and over but you're always there to lift me up and to answer my prayers, when it seems like all hope is gone you show up and never let me fall as long as I trust and believe in you I know you are my greatest defender and for that I bow down to you and know everything will be ok.Sorry everyone this was supposed to be short and sweet but I needed to get this out and now I will look back and use this as a testimony and prayer. I remember the first time I heard this song. I had just been discharged from the hospital after two months of being there fighting for my life. The surgeons working so hard to save my life. My family was called and and was told to come see me as I might not have much longer. I had four surgeries in under three years. I believe that God used the surgeons to literally put me back together. Which takes this song to another level and has so much more deeper meaning. God saved my life and I am forever. This song has been ministering to me powerfully for the last 5 days. I was sick with COVID and locked down with fever, aches, chills, and headaches for about 4 days. It showed me how frail I am and how frail my faith is. He showed me how his faithfulness is not based on mine. I love this song with a burning passion. And mainly it’s because of the line “You come back with the head of my enemies.” Hear me when I say this but that line means so much. Not only is that phrase biblically correct (due to the story of David and Goliath) but it’s powerful. Worship songs today all have one main issue : they praise the pleasant things of the Bible. They don’t praise the parts of the Bible that are graphic or hard to hear for some. God commands us to read His Word and worship Him and Him alone. Never once did He say to only praise the light and airy and pleasant things. We must read and praise and pray over it all. Including the harsher messages. They show how radical His love is for us. It shows that He would rid us of our enemies to show us how much He did. The story of Jesus dying on the cross is in so many songs, but it’s romanticized. He died in the most horrific way imaginable, beaten till He bled, bruised until he couldn’t stand, nailed to a crude cross cut from a tree with large and long spikes by His hands and feet. Stripped naked and mocked by all who watched and made fun of until His last breath....... And He would do it again in a heartbeat if His Father commanded because He loves us, because He loves YOU that much. That death is explicitly shown in the Bible and has to be portrayed as such. God gave us His Word to read and abide by, not to exclude from our worship and to edit to make it easier to hear.

I just am so inspired by Steffany and the way she worships.. I also just wanted to post on here my own testimony. This song speaks to me on so many levels, it's like the words literally speak out my heart for what I went through around 2021 and early 2022. I can't believe a song by a person I have never met depicts what I want to say! God is so good, He brought me through my hard place and when I look back He exceeded my expectations way beyond I could ever think or imagine in the way He has transformed everything. I don't even know what else to say.. my heart is so grateful and grateful to know this God! Thank you Jesus!!!!!
