the spike strips are OP you should really use them better in a challenge like this. the reason the ones at top go around them is because of where you are, I find. Using the spike strips at the bottom left hill climb and the horse run (as I call it) works great (as you eventually realised) because it reduces health significantly and helps your towers. The top farmland area can actually easily be defended and defend itself if you upgrade the walls and towers but because you're so focused on defending everywhere else you keep neglecting/sacrificing it... but again spike strips allows you to not have to defend everywhere. Also Ballista for those catapults away from the wall in between where the troop buildings would be helps a lot... hmm think I'll try this challenge and see if it make it and comment back

I pretty much built a bunker around the castle, heavy fortifications and maxed towers, didn't care much for other buildings apart from spike strips and few additional walls. Also went full on ranged build and it worked. Last 2 waves broke into my inner walls, but they barely touched the castle itself.

This is a fun way to play. My loadout was spear, blueprints, warhorse, and power tower. The snow level is the hardest, but I almost beat it. The levels with the flying things are the worst, but a fortress tower with the power tower perk is pretty amazing. It will have like six projectiles in the air at once. Warhorse with magic armor and spear is potent against the mobs of snowballs. Just crash through them and activate the special power

its not a perfect option but on the desert map the wind spirit on the windmills helps with the archers taking out the towers before the melee units hit that northeast wall. honestly found the windmill bombs to be inconsistent.

The ones that do so much damage to you specifically go for the king. Easy to kite

Those little rolley ones try to find and kill you. they do a ton of damage mostly just to you it seems. Their basically assassins so I just try to stay away from them if I can. Also, for the desert map the best weapon I find is probably the spear because it does extra damage to any fast units which includes all the rolling ones/monsters and to horses. Use the spikey barricades they do a ton of damage and slow down fast units, not so useful against slower units but are still helpful. they are necessary up top where the assassins spawn in though and really good basically anywhere. I make sure to place them all down. Also, don't use scarecrows on the desert map, there aren't ANY flying units so it would be better to do exta money, a bomb mill, or even the one that deflects arrows.

I wonder if a melee only(outside of the castle) build. Only melee troops, a melee weapon for the king but no towers(scarecrows are allowed mainly so the fliers dont basically auto win). Perk choice is player's choice and anything but towers and technically the house arrows perks(that perk is allowed if it doesnt exactly work on a map(i.e. a loss on a map) happens).

its actually very doable you just used the wrong perks, you want the one that gives your castle rapid fire arrows (helps alot) and when you see catpluts ignore everything else and take them out first! if they take your walls your screwed (which is why you kept dying you left the catapults alone while they were taking out all your walls and towers) to earn more money castle upgrade to auto make lvl 1 homes into 2 (saves you gold while upgrading others so you never have to worry about upgrading house) I do an economy build all the time i never fight enemies pure gold into max towers /walls game is super easy Lol
