Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released worldwide on November 10, 2009 for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing the same storyline. It was released in conjunction with two other Call of Duty games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized for the Nintendo DS, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, a port of Call of Duty 4 adapted by Treyarch for the Wii console.

This was one of the best designed missions. From a gameplay perspective, it is very diverse with a lot of variety. You defending, sniping, assaulting, droning, hiding, anti-air, managing assets, proving overwatch, etc. It's also one of the more believable (or less unbelievable) missions stateside. I love the stuff in Washington. Very dramatic and epic in a Michael Bay sort of way. But completely illogical in every way too. This mission, on the other hand, is more straight forward. It also shows a balance. The Russians start with the upper hand, thanks to their successful airborne drop. But the first US units to respond were quick, getting to the HVT and setting up a defensive position until proper reinforcements arrive. Which they eventually do. But only after Hunter 2-1 and friends first defend against a couple of waves. Then the Russians get the upper hand again by wrecking their position, forcing them to move while under fire. The Rangers are looking like they're good once they put the UAV to use, but then the Russians shoot that down and almost wipe them out with helicopters. Which they only barely manage to destroy with conveniently place MANPADS (which I found to be the most unrealistic part, since those probably shouldn't have been where they were). So it was a nice little balanced exchange between that was trying to invade through the air and the ground forces scrambling to their defenses. Both sides were kind of in a mess, allowing for all sorts of unique engagements before the lines really started to form and units started to get organized well. Actually, the most unrealistic part is the location. The East Coast? Unlikely. And the first wave of Russians should not have had helicopter support.

iHateGooglePlus True but Russians were being very aggressive. They took DC within the first day of the invasion, all US forces were on the defensive. The almost had to bomb the capital cause they thought the Russians took it. We really were losing until the EMP!!

I think the helicopters in this mission were probably deployed here because of aircraft carriers. In MW3 we see that the whole Russian fleet arrives in New York which is on the east coast, this is probably how they managed to deploy all the helicopters and the fighter jets

The entire idea of an invasion of the US East Coast seems unrealistic to me. Even before Russian aircrafts would be over the Atlantic, there would have been alerts by NATO bases in Iceland or England. There is absolutely no way for them to get through there and not being detected by any radars. Besides all of that, if Russian aircrafts would get that close to the US coastline, the Air Force, Marines and Navy would scramble all their air units possible, in order to intercept them. Just think of the game for a second, the Russian Air Force must have entered the American airspace somewhere between Philadelphia and Norfolk to start their airborne mission in Virginia and Maryland. The distance between those places is about 220 miles. In this corridor alone would have been around 150 capable fighter jets of the Air Force, marines and navy. In addition to that, there are also SAMs around DC which would have supported the defense of the airspace. But no matter how unrealistic it might be, the game is extremely nice in all terms of design, storyline and handling. But personally my favorite mission is Of their own Accord!

@@Vloneeee7_ The EMP makes zero sense. Ignoring the fact that this is not how EMPs generated by nukes actually work, and EMP that large would only help the Russians. It would wipe out US infrastructure and vehicles, while Russia infrastructure remained unharmed, since it is outside the area of effect. Simply reducing both forces in the immediate area to light infantry with no electronics wouldn't give the US any advantage. None of it makes it sense.
