Welcome to Foxhole! It's one of the most contested stalemates in the game for sure. Couple others like it with less activity most of the time. But otherwise yes in other areas on the map you exchange territory back and forth a lot more often than this spot! DM me on discord if ever have any questions about the game or if you need help learning something!

The bridge battles are a drain on resources for both teams in exchange for little to no gain. That said. I think they are also a good environment for a new player to test out some weapons, different tactics and like shown in the video learn some basic building to defend exposed sections in key areas. I would even say that experiencing a drawn out bridge battle is an excellent way to learn about the bigger picture both on a strategic and a logistical level. And, by the end of the day, you'll also understand why veterans mostly avoid it. Good luck in Foxhole!

I'm a newish player; in the early days of this war I was helping the Warden side, delivering logi while avoiding the partisans that were in the back roads, i had to drive across the grass to sneak past them. Then i started helping with building up defences, (shoutout to grace) after that an UMBRA commander told me to dig 4 of the big holes so i did.. next thing i know, their squad had turned up with 4 artilery cannons and pallets of explosive ammo. For about the next 3 hours i just hanged around the UMBRA squad and kept helping them to load Artilerly. This was quite late at night for me now and i was amazed that what ever they were shooting at wasn't decimated yet (i asked and they said they were shooting the relic base).. eventually, all of a sudden they all stopped and hopped into a truck, drove to a base near the bridge, everyone grabbed satchels, the wardens rebuilt the bridge and everyone rushed across. They destroyed the relic base and the wardens rebuilt it. I spent a couple more hours fighting on the other side of the bridge, there was so many wardens, we had secured the area, built up bases, artilery set up on the other side of the bridge now and we kept on pushing further and further. At this point i thought that the area was secured and in our control and i logged off to go to sleep finally... I log in the next morning and check mercys wish and the collies had pushed the wardens all the way back, reclaimed the relic base and both sides were in the same stalemate again in the middle of the bridge. I couldnt take anymore of the meat grinder at mercys wish so i went back to doing some relaxing backline logi. Anyway, shout out to the UMBRA squad members for letting a random newbie roll with you and shoutout to all past, present and future wardens and collies who will die over that bloody bridge.

@Raethrius5 ай бұрын
Mercy's Wish is fun not because of the fight at the bridge, but because of all the other activities there. Once you finish killing a partisan, a gunboat is reported so you take guns and go counter that. Once the gunboat is dead or it left to rearm, a bunch of privates are building the bridge because they have an Outlaw with them and are gonna take over the relic from collies. There's no real reason to try and tell them not to do it because they'll understand once their assault fails 20m past the bridge, but now you have to prepare with a truck full of havocs or a 250mm pushgun that's somewhere ready to go for when the inevitable happens and the Outlaw gets killed by some kranny on the other side and reports of 4 other collie tanks start coming in. Once harmony is restored and the bridge is dead, a destroyer is reported shelling the town base so now you run there to outrepair the damage for the next 5mins. At some point this cycle begins all over again, yet you're having tons of fun in a bridge fight without ever firing a shot at the bridge in question.

This was the first place I ever played infantry at and personally, I think it is a great place to practically learn the ropes for new infantry. I was able to fight against actual players with the support of experienced players, meaning I wasn't usually getting gunned down quickly and could follow their example, I got to see how different weapons are ideally used and what different rifles excel at. I think what helped was I went in with the mindset of I was still learning, and I should just focus on being a non-hinderance. Its great because there are generally few expectations that anyone will actually push the bridge in the first half of the war, so if we fail to push anything it's just the nature of this part of the map, so people usually don't complain that infantry aren't playing right like I have unfortunately encountered on other hex's.

Doing logi for Mercy's is crazy but I genuinely enjoy the challenge. Dodging partisans to get guns and ammo to the eternal bridge fight can be tedious sometimes but its such an important location to supply given how fast ammo, bmats and other supplies can run out. The constant danger of being jumped by partisans mixed with the rush of knowing that I'm keeping the fight going just a little longer is so awesome. Fighting at the bridge can be fun depending on your tastes in Foxhole combat and most of my friend group that plays Foxhole have done QRFs to help stop Colonial advances over the various wars. I agree that it shouldn't be somewhere you go when you're first starting out but I would also add that in my humble opinion Mercy's Wish/Tomb of the First is one of those places that should be on a Foxhole player's bucket list just to see the dedication that some of the community put into these chokepoint battles. Hold fast Wardens, they shall not pass!

I think the Devs set up the map to be more bridge battle-tastic out of caution for what ice crossings would do. The community is taking its time embracing winter offensives just as it took time for naval to start affecting core layers of the game (arguably still hasn’t pushed into logi workflows as much as it can/should for efficiencies and wider capabilities) So we’ve got two new tools that can drastically affect the Warfighting paradigm but only one community worth of attention to do it. An infantry refresh update might help energize things in this indecisive time

My ma was born in the safehouse near the bridge, and as such I visit Mercy regularly. I also became good at the game -on that very bridge- when I killed 10 collies singlehandedly with a bayo, it was so impressive a collie operated vetted Scorpion fell into the downed bridge while admiring my work (I take full credit for that aswell). Mercy is underrated as a front, but it does take a lot of mental fortitude to fight there long-term. I always let new Wardens know that we are there to get pounded day after day while the war is won elsewhere, and to keep logi routes clean at all costs. P.S 'Feel free to come do parti stuff here sometime collies'. Those are traitorous words, you'd better miss me on the front, I tell you what...

Mercys wish is fun to fight in cause it is pivotal in defence of LOM and KC. This war might seem like a stalemate, but most frontline hexes have been rolled on collie side. So collie side is less build up than wardens are. A very strong position to be in for late game pushed to be honest. Even tomb of the first has been reset a couple of times, as taking gibbet in KC opens it up a lot.

There are 3 areas with bridges that invoke this kind of s### more than any other: Loch Mor: Mercy's Wish V. Tomb of The First Marban Hollow: Lockheed/Lockheed Breakers The Clashtra: Watchful Nave on BOTH sides, Treasury's north bridge I've fought across The Ckashtra this war. I genuinely am developing a distaste for bridges in general because of how there's never enough supplies or focus to make legitimate gains and hold them. Also, the right flank of us collies is just sucking it this war. NOBODY seems to have any thought for success beyond 'throw Infantry in this general direction and hope it works long enough for the wardens to get tired and leave.' It's so bad I quit my regiment and am moving to the other flank to fight over there to get away from it all.

@enogvizush30335 ай бұрын
I think you've actually missed an important part of why this bridge battle is doomed to stalemate. Colonials have a bit more nuanced (and boring) version of why it's bad to push across the bridge, because if you win, you spawn three border bases (sometimes only two, but Fort Duncan/Prairie Bazaar direction falls to the wardens remarkably easily in a lot of wars). Unless there's a large op in place to capture these bases before the wardens do, warden QRF will usually be alerted by the fall of Mercy's Wish and push hard at all of the border bases, often taking out Westmarch in the process. And because Loch Mor is a good frontline logi hex in a lot of wars, the wardens can field more combatants before they get queued, making this counterpush even more likely to succeed. Even if the counterpush doesn't destroy anything notable, it can force logi and frontline facility players to leave the hex to allow for more combatants to restore the status quo, which hurts both deadlands and kings cage. I speak as a frontline logi player who enjoys using the scrap field at Moon's Copse to fuel the Foundry refinery, it's a very efficient way to fill up your queue if there's a small guage rail from field to refinery. If Loch Mor gets queued I have to resort to far away scrap fields or salvage mines other people are already using. Plus, even if Colonials do capture Mercy's Wish and the ensuing border bases, Lost Grove and First coin remain battles in a choke point, meaning the most that's really gained is a partisan route in through Den of Knaves direction, and it's easy to lose what was gained during the natural ebb and flow of timezones and factionwide population peaks. That said, even if it's doomed to move nowhere for very long the battle is a notable way to try to wear down enemy logistics, so skilled players can very much have an impact by preserving friendly supplies or depleting enemy supplies: every logi truck that goes to the bridge battle is one not going to neighboring pushes.

I was shelling Mercy's Wish with my squad a week ago, but 3 alts stealing an Ironship full of stuff and sabotaging our ammo production made me quit the game.

I was at mercy earlier shit was ass I was wondering why we don’t just do an amphibious assault but idk
@RobertLovesGames5 ай бұрын
One of the reasons is because there are not a lot of beaches to land on because there are so many rocks on the coast. Also they usually get QRF'd really fast as well. I would love to see some improvements from the devs to make this option more viable. I was hoping the lake freezing over would change it up enough as well. Which I think it did, it just needed to last longer.

@@RobertLovesGames well I knew that! :p I moreso meant that it's pretty far east, and the Wardens seem dead set on prying it from colonial hands. Is there something special about that hex?
@avros0085 ай бұрын
As a colonial part of veli we could not leave tomb or the first or the next stop is feirmor then heartlands and aftet that total colllapse for our faction. Personally i fought in this front with blood and sweat but not for fun. İ want to see our side wins no matter the cost 😂 because i have started playing on the Last days of w114 and every front i had seen is collapsed on my own eyes so it created a massive grief to me.

I am the scariest, strongest, craziest, and deadliest colonial of them all!!! And no fricken blue berry will ever be able to forget it!!! 😁because I’ll nail their ass if they even try!!!

"Exciting" bridge battle. Man, absolutely nothing happens for days on end. Mercy's Wish bridge fight is every front for every day for at least a week. This game gets worse and more stale with every update, I swear.
@RobertLovesGames5 ай бұрын
lol exactly about the bridge battles. I don't agree with your last statement though. I keep having more fun with each new update personally. I think it's because I play a bunch of roles and know when not to burn myself out of the game as well. Sorry you feel that way :/
@BIGESTblade5 ай бұрын
@@RobertLovesGames Well, I don't have much fun at all anymore. The devs are trying to force me to work with others and since I am opposed to doing so, they are practically patching me out of the game. You can still do most things by yourself, but it gets more difficult with each update and I pretty much gave up doing anything except scraping at this point.
@RobertLovesGames5 ай бұрын
Ahhh that’s fair. I personally like that they are doing that. Sorry it’s not working out for what you want.
@BIGESTblade5 ай бұрын
@@RobertLovesGames I just want the devs to stop trying to force me to do what I don't want to. The game was radically different I didn't need to have 10 people with me to kill one bunker.
