I find this video very helpful and useful as well interesting. As a Catholic Christian, I don’t apologize for one. And I certainly don’t apologize for being a Knight of Columbus as well. Some people outside of Catholic Christianity asked me how can I support the Catholic Church that has scandals such as having Catholic priests that have sexually attacked children? And to this I answer. First off, not all Catholic priests are sexual predators towards children. Second, the pope, whoever it is. Is doing whatever it takes to deal with this situation. 3. The archbishop and bishops under their own archdiocese and diocese are making sure that their priests and future priests stay on the path of righteousness and that they don’t become sexual predators towards children. So again, I don’t apologize for being a Catholic Christian and I will not renounce my Catholic Christian faith.

Thank you! I don't like to argue or pick religious bouts just for kicks, but your video plus some literature investigation left me confidently prepared to defend my Catholic faith and even plant some seeds in the young minds of some JW's. They were very nice and polite and seemed to have walked away with a new view on Christ and the church after our 30 min chat. The teens seemed so interested that they admitted to be a little embarrassed of their faith, none the less the older teen said he'll start reading the Bible more in secret. I hope I made a difference.

As an organization the JW are the worst people on earth. I was loved and called a brother by any member I met, that was until I questioned a few things, I wasn't against them, I really loved them all and felt loved back but I committed the cardinal sin of having doubts and to not agree 100% with some details.... They told me that I wasn't welcome anymore, stopped talking to me, wouldn't answer my phone calls and looked at me with anger when I saw some of them and called them brothers or sisters as I had done for a long time. I had no idea that it was how they operated. I was broken hearted, had a tremendous pain and I mean physical pain in my whole body, after so many years together and thinking that we were a family, trusting them.... it still somewhat bothers me that I was treated like the worst criminal. That cult is bad from deep within. I am sure that individually, there are many excellent lost souls in their ranks but have been brain washed to the point that nothing and no one matters to them other than the organization, a mother, a father, siblings, any family member, friends must be ignored and not even say good morning to them if the elders say so.

Not too well known by today's JW membership (Nor talked about) of how CTR widely proclaimed Jesus's 2nd return...the fish sold or gave away all of their possesions and gathered and waited....and waited. In order to save face, CTR recalculated and gave a 2nd prediction, after which, of course, also failed just as resoundly. He then proclaimed Jesus had secretely returned, was living amongst them and the fish bought it.....and that is the way it still stands to this day. This is something you can easily google and check for yourself. The truth is.....Jesus is dead, is going to stay dead and 10,000 years from now, there will still be someone waiting around for Jesus's 2nd return. BHE

Very informative. I couldn't find what JWs taught regarding what happened when 1 died. Even in their own material. Ms. Tobola spelled it out. Death brings a cessation of existence for all. Resurrection is defined as a "recreation" of the body & soul. Only believers, (including Jesus himself) will be recreated. Unbelievers will go to the grave, with no conscious pain or punishment of any kind, they will cease to exist forever. Correct me if I am wrong. I think I got this right. TYVM

I'm studying JW right now and as I studied, it struck me that what it most reminds me of is Roman Catholicism. One of the biggest differences is JWs aren't allowed to do critical thinking about their organization whereas RCs are.

If you ask both a Roman Catholic and one of JWs, “How do you know what is true regarding spiritual matters?”, they will both (in practice, if not by admission) point to a limited number of men in authority (the Pope/bishops in communion with him on the one hand, the Governing Body on the other) and to a continual stream of official pronouncements from that authority regarding spiritual matters. These pronouncements are mostly taken as the final word, if not as outright infallible/inspired. The stream being continual over time, official church positions in both cases end up contracting themselves and certainly end up contradicting the Holy Scriptures.

You say that the Battle with Satan happened at the Beginning That's not what the Scriptures teach. Read the Book of Job which was written by Moses. In Job Chapter 1:6 & Chapter 2:1 we see that the SON'S of Jehovah whom are in Heaven presenting themselves before him and Satan come among them and spoke with Jehovah . Now the Book of REVELATION was written by the Apostle John by the year 100 C.E. It presents FUTURE EVENTS. The Battle in Chapter 12:7, 12 Satan is Cast out of Heaven that's why they could Rejoice in Heaven because it had been cleanse of Satan and his Demons no more Bad influences in Heaven but only the Earth.

JW's do believe hell is the grave. A person is not conscious of anything in the grave and therefore no torture takes place there. Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts [“thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “all his thinking,” NE; “plans,” RS, NAB] do perish. If Adam and Eve were in danger of being tormented forever, would it not have been fair to warn them of that?” In Genesis 3:19, Adam's sentence was pronounced after he sinned but nothing was said about hellfire. Instead, Adam was told that he would return to the dust. Would it have been fair to tell Adam that he would go back to the ground if he was really going to a fiery hell? In the OT there is no mention of a fiery hell. Hell Fire originated from pagan religions many centuries before Christ came to earth. About 2,000 years before the birth of Jesus, the Sumerians and the Babylonians believed in an underworld that they called the Land of No Return. This ancient belief is reflected in the Sumerian and the Akkadian poems known as “The Epic of Gilgamesh” and the “Descent of Ishtar to the Underworld.” They describe this abode of the dead as a house of darkness, “the house which none leave who have entered it.” As to the conditions prevailing there, an ancient Assyrian text states that “the nether world was filled with terror.” The Assyrian prince who was supposedly granted a view of this subterranean abode of the dead testified that his “legs trembled” at what he saw. The ancient Egyptians believed in the immortality of the soul, and they had their own concept of the after world. Zoroastrianism, founded in Iran, or Persia, also has a hell, a cold, ill-smelling place where the souls of sinners are tormented. The ancient Greeks believed in the survival of a soul and that [the soul] entered the infernal regions after crossing the river Styx in the boat of the old ferryman Charon, who exacted as the fare an obolus (coin), which was placed in the mouth of the dead person. In the infernal regions it appeared before the three judges of the place. If condemned it had to suffer in Tartarus. The Greeks even invented a Limbo, the abode of children who had died in infancy, and a Purgatory, where a certain mild chastisement purified souls.” The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is the only place where someone in hades is said to be tortured. The Jerusalem Bible, in a footnote, acknowledges that it is a “parable in story form without reference to any historical personage.” If taken literally, it would mean that those enjoying divine favor could all fit at the bosom of one man, Abraham; that the water on one’s fingertip would not be evaporated by the fire of Hades; that a mere drop of water would bring relief to one suffering there. Whose bosom would the righteous have gone to before Abraham? Reference to Gehenna appears 12 times in the Christian Greek Scriptures. Five times it is directly associated with fire. Translators have rendered the Greek expression geʹen·nan tou py·rosʹ as “hell fire” (KJ, Dy), “fires of hell” (NE), “fiery pit” (AT), and “fires of Gehenna” (NAB). The Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna) was outside the walls of Jerusalem. In the first century Gehenna was being used as the incinerator for the filth of Jerusalem. Bodies of dead animals were thrown into the valley to be consumed in the fires, to which sulfur, or brimstone, was added to assist the burning. Also bodies of executed criminals, who were considered undeserving of burial in a memorial tomb, were thrown into Gehenna. At Matthew 5:29, 30 (NIV), Jesus spoke of the casting of one’s “whole body” into Gehenna. If the body fell into the constantly burning fire it was consumed, but if it landed on a ledge of the deep ravine its putrefying flesh became infested with the ever-present worms, or maggots. (Mark 9:47,48) Living humans were not pitched into Gehenna so it was not a place of conscious torment. Jesus was saying a person going to Gehenna is going to the garbage dump to be destroyed. Christendom borrowed the immortal soul and hell fire doctrines from pagan religions.

Concerning it's accuracy, the New World Translation has been found to be "one of the most accurate English translations of the New Testament currently available" and is "the most accurate of the [8 major] translations compared." -Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament by Jason BeDuhn, associate professor of religious studies at Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Also the comments made by Professor Benjamin Kedar of Israel can be found by clicking on the link below and scrolling to the last sub-heading, "Why the Harsh Criticism?": Some have hypocritically accused theNew World Translation Bible of inaccuracies, bias, and written by those with poor credentials. When, in reality, what kind of credentials do the writers of most every other modern Bible have? And yet these copyists allowed the insertion the title "LORD" instead of the divine name in most of the nearly SEVEN THOUSAND instances in their 'translation' of the Hebrew Scriptures. Not only is this inaccurate, but it is a purposeful, blatant misuse of God's Name! (Ex. 20:7) The NWT is accurate in that it uses God's Name in all instances found in Scripture. (For the subject of God's Name in the N.T., see the "Jehovah" in The New Testament Category.) Also, (unlike the NWT) most of these other translations used were made by those who were influenced by the pagan philosophies and unscriptural traditions that their religious systems had passed down from long ago as well as other influences. +Moe Morales Jason Beduhn is not a Greek Scholar and very likely Unitarian so he has a clear bias. His expertise is not in biblical languages he is a History professor. BeDuhn received his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. This degree requires an intermediate level of competence in Greek. BeDuhn's PhD from the University of Indiana is in Comparative Religious Studies, not in Biblical languages. He is not recognized in the scholarly community as an expert in Biblical Greek. He has written a book “Truth in translation” which he supports two controversial translations go figure! When you have a great consensus of critics of the NWT your bound to find ONE oddball that supports it. Another supporter is ROLF FURULI but of course he doesn’t count because he is biased he is a Jehovah’s Witness!

Thompson for example is just another version of the Jehovah's Witness Johannes Greber dilemma. Namely it is a translation based upon occult activity and influence. And the question is not whether other translations have translated this text like the NWT but rather what do SCHOLARS think of the NWT as a translation and this text in the manner in which it was translated. +Jim Battersbee In 1985, the Society published a new edition of their Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures. In Appendix 2A they added another "translation" to their list - that of John S. Thompson of Baltimore, entitled The Monotessaron; or, the Gospel History, According to the Four Evangelists. This rendition, dated at 1829, is quoted as, "and the Logos was a god." In their new book entitled Witnesses of Jehovah, Leonard and Marjorie Chretien give us new information on just who John Thompson was. They quote The American Quarterly Review of September, 1830. Here we read Thompson saying, "I shall rejoice in having been the happy instrument, in the hand of God, of having done fourfold as much for mankind, as all the professed commentators of the last fifteen centuries!" Aside from a lack of humility, it seems Thompson was "moved about by every wind of doctrine" as well, moving from being a Calvinist to an Arminian Methodist preacher, to being a Restorationist, then on to an Arian Restorationist, until finally being a Unitarian Universalist (should sound familiar by now!) The Chretiens also record that Thompson admits to having exper-iences with - yup, you guessed it - spirit beings who instruct him to "be careful to represent Jesus as only the instrument of God in all he does."

The second is that of Johannes Schneider. They render Schneider, "and godlike sort was the Logos." Finally they cite the translation of Jurgen Becker, which they give as "and a god was the Logos." The German schools are still stuck in the rut of naturalistic biblical criticism, and two of the translations the Witnesses cite come straight from that perspective. we cannot find any scholar "who actually believes that the Bible is the Word of God and is inspired" and consistent with itself that renders John 1.1 as "a god." We have found spirit mediums that do so, and Unitarians who have to use someone else's translation as a basis upon which they make "corrections".
