This is absolutely the best documentary regarding the origins of the Holy Bible which I have ever watched! Even though I am not a Catholic myself, I will attest that the manner and degree of scholarship that the Catholic Church possesses, practices, and recommends for its membership, is superb! And in all fairness, the Catholic Church has much more going for it than its critics, and especially its detractors, will admit!

@YAJUN YUAN The teacher clearly said there were disagreements about what should be canonized. This is exactly why you need a Pope to put the final blessing with the authority given by Jesus to uphold and defend the Truth. Are you disputing that after year 400 there was agreement in the One Church for the next 1600 years in the canon of the Bible? I will trust Jesus and His promise of the Holy Spirit protecting the Truth rather than the arguments of a few prideful men who thought they nee better than 1500 years of the Church being the Church as instituted by Christ.

@YAJUN YUAN you are wrong. You teach falsely. You have no idea what you are talking about. You have been lied to in order to bash the Catholic Church. Protestants totally screw up the true history on anything religious. The Church Fathers who were not in schism always submit to the authority of the Church. Example... That is exactly what Saint Jerome did. The reason for his interest in the notion that those seven books may not have been inspired is because he thought they should have been written in Hebrew originally, not Greek. Well, if Saint Jerome were alive today, he would have done a one eighty, because with the discovery of the dead sea scrolls, which were written about 200 years before Jesus, copies of these books were found and they were indeed originally written in Hebrew. Several copies of Isaiah and extended parts of Daniel and Ester. Please learn the true history of the Church Fathers.

I think some corrections need to be made on the timing of the writing of the gospels and the New Testament letters. Obviously Saint Paul’s letters were written during his lifetime and the Catholic officials during the lifetime of those authors. But the church fathers also say that the gospels were written during the lifetime of the apostles. And thisCan be verified by the fact that St. Luke’s gospel was written before the book of acts Saint Luke mentions his gospel in his second book the book of acts. Therefore that was certainly during the lifetime of St. Paul. And then the introduction of Saint Luke gospel he mansions that he used other sources from my witnesses. In my opinion, most likely those were the Gospel’s of Matthew, Mark and John. And finally the early church fathers confirm this to be true.

This is a good and accurate Cliffs Notes version. But the real history is MUCH more complicated and nuanced than this video and will not convince the knowledgeable Protestant. Please read Gary Michuta's works for the most comprehensive and accurate history: Why Catholic Bibles are Bigger and The Case for the Deuterocanon. St. Jerome and the weight of his authority features prominently in the longer story of the canon and in a negative way. Luther and modern Protestants appeal to Jerome (and accurately so, to some extent, though incorrectly) for their canon. Jerome stands virtually alone in his opposition to the Deuterocanon but does translate it and apparently eventually accepts it as Scripture.
@johns18342 жыл бұрын
Is there anything incorrect in this presentation or is it just not an all inclusive university level course? Not sure a hard core Protestant can be convinced anyway, since most seem to "hate" Catholics, hence the name "protest ant". Being in RCIA, the "cliff note" version is fine for me at this time.

@@johns1834 Having looked into the issue deeply by reading and following Gary Michuta's work, I don't believe there is anything incorrect or inaccurate in this presentation. Many hardcore Protestants have been convinced and converted, so it's possible, if they are sincerely and persistently seeking the truth. Here is Michuta's channel for some videos that go deeper: kzbin.infovideos

@@tonyl3762 Good news. I only know about the my former Episcopal Church, when finally realizing how much they actually supported homosexuality as NOT a sin by condoning and even celebrating it. The deacon was a non repentant homosexual in an unholy same sex marriage. Although the EC didn't support abortion, they approved of a woman's right to choose. Very happy to have found the Catholic Church. Thank you.
