I have experience with the 57 and it’s night and day compared to my $200 condenser. I guess my question is if it’s the price or the fact that it’s a condenser

(assuming you’re in favor of the condenser) it’s most likely the fact that condensers tend to capture a lot more detail, both dynamically and towards the mid/high frequencies depending on the mic!

would love to know what budget mic (around but pref under 50) you would recommend with prime day happening rn

amazing question that warrants a video, might make it very soon, but a TL;DR In this price point, you gotta ask if you want a USB mic or a XLR mic in which you’d need an interface. I’d also try to stay away from unknown audio brands and look for some reputable brands. for condenser mics (USB): (funny enough) Blue Snowball $35 (XLR) Mackie EM-91C For dynamics, the brother of the mic i spoke about in this video the PGA57, goes for $45. (ofc) don’t expect AMAZING quality. If you can, save up bc even $100 can get you an audio technica 2020. but if you gotta do what you gotta do, DO IT 🫶🏼

Cant you eq an sm57/58 to sound extremely close to the 7b?

if you hear the difference between the two at 5:32, they’re already REALLY close sonically. You can probably EQ them to get it close, but i’d say that the shockmounting in the 7B and the slightly more consistent dynamics is what makes the difference
