Opponent at 38:00 putting a land into play is such a small but heads up play that almost nobody would make. Such a huge difference in the game though!

I’ve been watching/doing Holiday Cube drafts for like 15 years, and in all that time I’ve yet to see something more brutal than losing to Plow Under.

Plow Under was *amazing* in the Tooth and Nail era green decks. Just absolutely brutal. Double stone rain, can't draw gas for two turns? Brutal. Alwaaays brutal.

You definitely drafted Mystical Tutor and then it didn't make it into your deckbuilding process on MTGO (nvm you figured it out)

The pivoting in the identity of the deck sure was something, impressive to see LSV recognise what and when to do so. Might not be the best deck ever drafted, but I think this was an amazing show in skill piloting the drafting.

Sad to see him pass Pest Infestation. I feel like it was really splashable, like he said he probably could've wheeled Kozilek. Even without hindsight, I feel it was the clear pick

The pivot into heavy green is amazing... A lesser drafter such as myself would not have seen that opportunity and would have trainwrecked so hard, lol. A good reminder to stay open, even deep into pack 3.

It's really fun to watch the cube evolve. I wonder how helpful and or fun it is to have a handful of little 2 to 3 card combos. Flash is so interesting because it really can fit well into a reanimator deck, but it also can totally suck in that deck. Same in a Channel/monolith style deck, some of those cards work with flash but not all. It has good overlap across decks. Some of these little combos, for example Thopter Foundry plus Sword of the Meek, don't really overlap into other decks well. Those combos feel especially cheesy when they win and just look like bad cards in the cube - IMHO. Thanks as always for the premium content!

I was glad he acknowledged it after the draft phase. An untapped fetchable dual is pretty high quality at that stage of pack 1, even if you’re not in the colors yet - I was mentally yelling at him to take it.

Watching this draft and play is why I know that as much as I cannot play in the NBA or NFL, I cannot also play at the highest levels of MTG drafting.

So thankful for you and all of the hard work you put into the channel (especially during this draft lol, pun intended)

A bit of a shaky but very interesting draft! I find the ones where you need to pivot or re-evaluate are fascinating. I hope it ends up working out - we'll see I suppose!

Everytime you guys draft like this (6 players, 3 packs each) you end up with these frankenstein decks, missing a bunch of key pieces. In my 360 card cube, when we play a 6-player draft, we open 4 packs each and discard the last 4 cards. This way, we are able to access the same amount of cards as a 8-player draft and we are always able to put together good decks, which guarantees everyone's fun. This configuration is possible in Draftmancer and I think it would be good for you guys 🙂

There was serious meme potential with Memory Jar, Wheel of Fortune, Timetwister, Echo of Eons, Sail into the West, all combined with Ancestral Recall, Eternal Witness, and Regrowth. Then you get bricked by not getting Narset, Bowmasters, Sheoldred, or Hullbreacher. I don't know how such a deck wins, but I want to believe.

You actually missed two cards in your build. As you noted you did draft a mystical tutor and forgot to add it but you also forgot a Become Immense in your side board as well. You should have 45 cards at the end so when you had 28 main and 15 board I knew you were missing two cards. It looks like the draft bugged out at 16:21 mark as you moved the channel to the board, your main goes from 24 down to 22 when it should be 23 and stays that way for the remainder of the draft.

Stiflenought might have done a short appearance in the cube, but the fact that you brought up [slip out the back] made me realise that also works for kroxa+uro. So now I need to try a build on that in timeless. Question is if going animate oriented whit unearth+Lazav is worth it for speed, or if a more rampy approach whit [delighted halfling]. Hope I can make something spicy brewing whit this

curious about the olephant pick over overgrown tomb .. both are fixing, and olephant would need more of a splash to be fully effective, whereas tomb was similarly half on-colour and would've better enabled channel :hmm:

hey luis! long time viewer here :) dont know if this is something you or the server would be interesting but figured id shout into the void and say that i think it would add a cool dimension to these daily drafts if "the crown" or some similar king-of-the-hill mechanic was codified into a legitimate competition

Reanimator tends to be Grixis colors; there don’t tend to be many green cards you’d want other than maybe Channel.

@@Anusien Sure, but it's a late half-on-color fetchable vs. an efficient but replaceable playable. As it turned out there was a pack later on where trop would have made a green fetch land a live pick, where there was otherwise nothing to take. Also green has other ways to cheat in big stuff, so it maybe opens the door to Oath if it gets opened.

@@shevek5934Totally agree, and I was glad to hear LSV acknowledge it at the end of the draft phase. I think taking a good dual later in pack 1 has a lot of upside even if you have no cards in that color yet. In this draft it was borne out when he later saw Channel, Windswept Heath, and Pest Infestation and was not seeing the reanimator cards, but even if it doesn’t turn into anything, I still like the pick.
