Really interesting how great players evaluate cards differently. Reid thinks Treachery is a tier 1 card and difficult to pass, while LSV thinks its borderline unplayable.

Not going to say Reid is wrong as he's obviously much better than me, but it's definitely gotten worse as threats at lower mana values have gotten better and you can die before casting it often enough. If you have the control or are playing to the board until you can cast it it's still really good.

would have 100% taken the tar pit over treachery personally. threats are lower cost now and a turn 5 play to steal someone's 3 drop just isn't super impactful now.

Still insane value if it resolves since you untap 5 lands. If you look at it as a free spell that requires you to have 5 lands available, its strong even if you're stealing a 3-drop

@@LaPoubelle42it’s definitely strong but the problem with stealing a 3 drop is that the opponent has had it for 2 or 3 turns. nowadays the good 3 drops do a lot in that amount of time

It was a 64 player event instead of just a 8 person draft so there was potentially up to 8 recall to be had since theres 8 drafts
