Unova is my favourite Pokémon region because so many Pokémon in that region have awesome designs and original concepts.I don't know why people don't like the region just because most of them are weak. For example Oshawott is a Pokémon people don't like because it is weak. But it and it's evolutions have awesome designs.

most of the pokemon based on inanimate objects get some amount of hate for their design. A few, myself included, love them a lot, but it seems the majority of pokefans prefer pokemon based on living things, whether real or fictional. Also, it's a frustrating pokemon competitively because it's so close to being good, but just doesn't quite work, mostly because of its counter-productive signature ability. If water compaction actually cancelled or even just reduced the damage from water attacks, maybe raising defense by one stage instead of two to balance the change slightly, then it would be great. But granting a defense boost only after taking the damage from a super effective hit, and from a typing that is mostly targets special defense at that... it just doesn't work.

I remember disliking the designs for the Simi trio when they were first announced, but I was planning on using Oshawott and I disliked Simisear the least so I figured I might as well use it. She somehow wound up being the most used member of my team and singlehandedly made Simisear into one of my favourite Pokemon. Since then all three of the Simis have grown on me tremendously and I even happened across a shiny Panpour in Y that I plan on using in a play-through someday!

An unpopular Pokemon I defend is Voltorb. Voltorb is based on a mimic, a monster that resembles treasure and what does treasure look like in the Pokemon games? Pokeballs! This is also why they explode, they are traps for the player!

I think Voltorb and Electrode were a missed opportunity. Voltorb looks like a Poke ball and Electrode looks like a Bigger Poke ball with inverted colors. It could of been a three stage evolution line that starts out as a Poke ball and evolves into Great Ball which finally evolves into an Ultra Ball all while getting slightly bigger each time. It could of even gotten Mega Evolution designed to look like a Master Ball (I guess it still could though). However I do still like Voltorb and Electrode and your comment about them being based of a mimic made me appreciate them a bit more. (Also I am aware that their shiny forms do resemble Great Balls)

Klefki is actually a pretty cool Pokemon, in terms of design and potential. Garbodor, while I don't LOVE it, I don't hate it, either. It's SUPPOSED to look ugly, it's literal garbage. Personally, I would never have one on my team, but if you do, kudos to you.

I agree, I don't genuinely hate any Pokemon. Sure, some irritate me and I don't like them as much as others, but I don't hate them. I'm irritated that Mewtwo gets 2 Megas and Mew just gets a Z move, despite the fact Mewtwo is the clone, but I don't hate Mewtwo. Toxapex is irritating as crap to battle, but I still appreciate and like it. I may not like Greninja much, but I don't hate it. I just really like fire types, so I naturally dislike water types. I still appreciate their designs though, and I honestly love Primarina, and Delphox is my second favorite Pokemon. I also like and used Incineroar. I wish more people could be like that just appreciate the thought that goes into lots of Pokemon.

Actually, I have a reason why I never forget simisear. In Pokémon y, the third or fourth Pokémon I ever caught in that game was a shiny pansear. I noticed it had a more orange color and I wasn’t paying attention to the shine affect so I didn’t see it so just so I didn’t risk missing a shiny, I caught it anyway and it turns out, it was a shiny. I still have it and I evolved it into a shiny simisear.

You are allowed to have your opinions, and I agree that Delcatty is really cute, I love the design myself. But Delcatty is really weak, and that is not an opinion. It seriously is one of the most competitively useless fully evolved pokemons in existence, and I would be surprised to see you defeat a serious opponent with it. That would be like winning a car race with a bike, possible, yet extremely hard to pull off. I’m no telling you to change your opinion, just pointing out that Decatty in fact is a weak pokemon, it doesn't mean you can't like it.

I actually love Charjabug ! Not only for its design that i find coolly robotic, but also for its real independence regarding Vikavolt which I also like a lot (despite being disappointing in terms of having a 2nd god stat apart from its SpeAtk, speed really being so wtf). Not only does he as a cocoon learns damaging attacks on its own, the ones he learn are physical and he has the offensive stats to use them correctly ! On top of that, his bulk is really similar to its evolution, which means that you can play him with Eviolite ! :D

Another thing that's sort of fun with the Simi trio is how their designs run the gambit from masculine to feminine. Simisage has huge spiking hair and big pants hiked up, giving it a very masculine look. Simipour has a cute little dress and long hair, making it more feminine in relation to the others. And Simisear has a sort-of-pants design but not as obvious as Simisage's, a feminine fur boa like aspect around its neck, and hair that doesn't really invoke either feeling too strongly, making in the most mixed or neutral of the three~

ZockerTrain When the grubbon line was first announced, I instantly knew I wanted one on my team. I think a lot of yhe hate for chargabug is due the fact that it can't evolve untill you get about halfway into the last island. While ot's better than having a kakuna for most of your journey, but it can be annoying waiting the entire game to finnaly get a vikavolt on your team. Also the cry is fucking awesome.

Please keep doing these! It is such a fantastic concept, especially for someone like me, who finds different peoples' opinions on Pokemon designs real interesting. I love hearing some of my unpopular faves get defended (since when is Palossand not the most popular? It's SO GOOD i love it, was love at first sight), but I ALSO love hearing some reasons people might like Pokemon I find otherwise lame, and that can even bump them slightly up my list! Like, the look at the monkeys you gave actually made me pretty sympathetic to them. I will say that my main reason for disliking them is the fact that B/W's absolute worst decision in design (and it made a lot of really bad ones) was wanting so badly to force the monkey on you that ANY pokemon of any type that would be super effective on the first gym is absent in all routes leading to the first gym... limiting those routes to normal types (patrat who is garbage, lillipup who is cute but uninteresting. audino who is... pretty worth having early game ngl) and dark types (purrloin who is... worse than glameow, which is pretty impressive, hey whats with pokemon and cats that are bad, meowth is good but every cat since is basically bluh), and... i know you get the monkey in the dreamyard, but there's also wild munna there and i forget if those are also inaccessible? Really, the designs themselves are... fine. But I have this feeling of disgust when I see them, knowing that their existence is responsible for B/W having two routes and a gym before any early-game Plants, Bugs, Zebras or even BIRDS, just because that way you might... GASP... find an ALTERNATE SOLUTION TO A PUZZLE in a ROLE PLAYING GAME. Which good game design ENCOURAGES, and bad game design DISCOURAGES. Like... especially if you don't want to bother training anything that you don't want to keep, and with how useless garbage everything pre-Blitzle is...the gym being super effective on your starter is an interesting challenge that the one-solution design ruins. Like... why not use the "first gym bests your starter no matter what' gimmick to like... put a variety of Pokemon in the first couple routes? Put at least one grass or electric type, at least one flying or bug or even maybe fire type, and at least one like... ground or rock or water type? i think it's actually better if water/grass/fire types are avoided. So like... Blitzle, Pidove, and like... Drilbur. AS WELL as the monkeys. Let the players either use the tool provided, or seek an alternate path that might be more interesting in the long run - if you have a grass type, a water type is fairly redundant, and a ground type might help cover you with not just fire, but also with steel and ice. But also that means that Pokemon people will want to have will be available. This is something Gen 7 does very well. You don't even need to a speedy Pokémon to shut that tactic down. Getting hit with an Ice Beam, a Dragon Pulse, a Moonblast, or basically any other Special Attack renders Druddigon's defense stat, Rough Skin, and Rocky Helmet completely moot. Plus, with how slow Druddigon's speed is, it's unlikely to get the Dragon Tail off first.

Here's one that I'd like to see covered: Farfetch'd. I used one in my Pokemon X playthrough, and while it wasn't very good in battle, it had a TON of utility. It can learn Cut and Fly, can use Air Slash to knock berries off trees, can learn Thief to farm heart scales and get other items, and can even learn False Swipe to help catch Pokemon. Plus, the one you get in a trade in that game, Quacklin, has a Jolly nature and max Attack and Speed IVs, so that helps alleviate it's bad stats a bit. It lost most of the things that made it good in gen 7, but ever since Kalos, I've had a soft spot for the leek-wielding duck.

Klinklang has access to Shift Gear and its signature attack, Gear Grind, is a two hitting move with good power that helps against Substitute. On top of that, Wild Charge is a decent coverage option, albeit its only real option outside of Return. Couple this with just the right stats in just the right places and Clear Body as an ability to prevent Landorus-T from checking you off the bat, you have a Pokemon that desperately wishes for one more good attack, but you could always use Magic Coat to bounce status moves back and I've successfully used it in OU before. Can't really hate it; just hope USUM gives it a good tutor move this time.

KlingKlang is excellent, it's creative, looks slick and even better when considered competitively. A full steel type evolution line, great all round stats and it can get the ability clear body. Sure it's name means metal clashing metal clashing but that's what nicknames are for.

I liked Contests in Gen 3 and 4 for this reason. Useless Pokemon competitively could make great show Pokemon. Spinoff games help flesh this out, too. I hate plusle and minun a little less thanks to Pokemon Ranger. I love when they give otherwise useless Pokemon a niche.

I don't really "dislike" most pokemon, but this video was pretty interesting, regardless. Something that's not always clear is the origin behind a lot of pokemon's designs, and you did a good job explaining that for each pokemon mentioned. I also love how literally every aspect of Pallosand's design is just "Yeah, it's a sand castle. Bite me."
